Ian Moore is a true artist with a passion for blues guitar.

If you haven’t heard of guitarist and singer, Ian Moore, then you’re in for a treat.  Granted even if you have heard him, you’ll still enjoy the songs I collected for you in this post.  Moore is a great player with an awesome voice and can really deliver on stage.

He performed one of my favorite versions of Freddie King’s song, “Me and My Guitar,” and a few other tunes he did stand out to me too.  So I went online and found some great Ian Moore performances to share with you.  I hope you enjoy them because I had a great time looking for them.

Let’s hit it with a bang up front.  Ian Moore produced an album called, ” Live From Austin,” that has a killer version of Freddie King’s song, “Me and My Guitar.”  I found a video of Ian playing it fairly recently with the bonus of having one of his original tunes, “How Does It Feel” as well…

Another favorite from Moore’s songbook is the song, “Satisfied.”  This might have been his biggest hit to date… I’ve even heard it performed on shows like The Voice and American Idol.

For the last several years, Ian has been splitting his time between the blues world and the “rock” world with his band, The Lossy Coils. Having listened to a lot of their music I can tell you there are many elements of many styles in the stew and taking some time to dig in for yourself is always worthwhile.

But here’s a clip from Ian’s other side that really showcases what a great songwriter he really is

Ian Moore has a lot more videos online, so keeping on listening.  As always, it’s been a pleasure getting these videos for you.  I really you enjoyed them too!

….and he’s playing a Garrison acoustic. I’ve owned for years; rarely see them. Some of the best resonance out there!

I live in tacoma and am planning on going. Very excited to see you will be performing. Also jerry miller is awesome. He performs often around the area

Don’t hear about Ian in Oz but I have a feeling he would be a sensation down under (as would you). Love his work and yours.

    • Bill45

I really like how he brings the pace and volume down in certain sections and then turns the heat back up with a vengeance! It makes the fast/loud section even more powerful when it immediately follows a slow/soft section.

    • John

Good stuff. Keep it coming. Thanks.

    • Bill

Search YouTube for his name and listen to his first CD. It’s got a photo of him sitting on an amp. I “discovered” the CD in the early 90s and wore it out. Favorites include Nothing, Please God, and Satisfied.

He is local up here in the Seattle area and I try to get out and see him when he plays locally. He also periodically plays in a Hendrix tribute band that is awesome.

Thanks for another lesson on listening! Great to hear “new” people. I never listen enough on my own.
When Ian plays he looks like he’s working hard; When Griff plays he looks like he’s hardly working!

    • colin bearman

fantastic voice and great guitar player

    • jim

I’m so glad you gave us the heads up about Tacoma. I had not heard about Ian (great!) but more importantly that you were also attending. Right in my backyard. See you there!

    • ted gerling

Thanks for the introduction Griff. Outstanding artist.

    • Dave O

Excellent, thanks Griff! I have several IAN Moore CDs. However my absolutely favorite version of Me & my Guitar is Tommy Castro’s from his Exception to the Rule album.

    • Colin Campbell

Excellent and my initial thought was that he might be a relation of the ‘late, great’ Gary Moore.

    • Charlie Di Lisio

Great player and songwriter. Thank you…One comment is for everyone to please pay close attention to having strong backing vocals and being out of tune with your instrument (Bass player on the last song) really lets an excellent performance down. Other than that, what a fresh approach to the mix of styles in Ian’s guitar playing and sound.

    • Chris hutchison

Thank you as always Griff. You never stop learning about the blues and the people,(you and I) that keeps it coming!! For a Sydney boy living in Western Australia Tacoma rings many bells. Is that Jimi country?? Certainly it is Sunflower territory. Long live Canned Heat!! Please send us some you tube. Regards,Chris.

I’d never heard of Ian Moore – until now! Thanks Griff, that was a great introduction and like others, I’d be intrigued to see you play alomgside him.
      Whad’ya say Griff?

    • tony

a first to hear this guy so you may not have heard of Ian Charles . West coast East coast where is the guy from . Ian Charles is east . The last tune is good . I would say some times its better to be not so solo . Small can be big like holding a note for like 2 bars bent up or tremolo the key note that is the fun finding them elsewhere .

    • Bruce G

I’ve been a fan of Ian Moore since his first album. Saw him live, at a ski area, in the fall of 98, and he was awesome. Would be fun to see Griff and Ian play together. Thanks for posting “Satisfied” William – that’s a great song.

i think i will be following the cowboy… surfing.. i found Ian moore really good on the ear…

      Hey Griff,
What a great singer and guitarist-Ian Moore, a great blues combination of talent like you.

I have never heard of him but will be looking out for him from now on.

You will have a great time on the 17th May Elas! a little too far from Sydney Australia to attend but maybe you could send all of us some Youtubes from the event.

Good stuff. Thanks. In the first two videos, his guitars seem to have a tele neck on a strat body. Interesting.

    • William

I saw Ian at a great club in Little Rock Arkansas years ago right after Muddy Jesus had just been released and I was truly amazed at the fine guitar playing and the tightness of his band. I found a really bad you tube copy of “Satisfied” but you can get the point.

I remember when they were calling Ian Moore the next Stevie Ray, and for good reason. The guy plays with some soul! Always loved that song Satisfied. Saw him at the Sandia Ski Area in 1999, playing in the open, on the side of the mountain. It was awesome. Still have his signature on the hat that I wore that day, and a photo of my wife and a friend’s wife kissing him on the cheek at the same time, after the show.

    • cs

I’ve been under his influence for a long time, raised my kids on him, saw him many times in Tulsa Ok. I thought everybody knew Ian’s music.
