Plain and simple, if you want to play the blues, this is the chord you need to do it.
Here’s the chord, and 3 ways to play it, and a good way to get it under your fingers (you’re gonna need it!)

Griff – love the lessons thanks — so I normally do the thumb over the top for bass (I can do both E and A string bass) … versus doing index finger as you suggest … not sure if that is better or not ….
If it works for you, go for it!
Hey, Griff…been watching you for years, and early on you burned into my brain to count out loud, and start on beat two. In this video, you are starting on beat one. I must be dense, so what am I missing here? You’re the best, my man! Cheers! 🙂
For soloing, yes, never start on beat 1. Sometimes when playing rhythm you will use beat 1, and in this case you are playing by yourself so you’ll have to establish beat 1.
As usual… perfection!
