When I was at USC studying music, I had the good fortune of working with Steve Trovato. If you don’t know Steve, he’s a helluva guitar player and he’s published dozens (just that I know of) instructional books, DVDs, magazine articles, and whatever else.

Well not too long after college, Steve called me about doing some lessons for a new website project he was starting. But here’s the coolest part…

After I wrote the lessons and recorded the audio parts, I got to go up to some fancy Hollywood technical studio where they covered me in these funky little dots and filmed me with a special camera so that the computer could create a 3D model of me teaching the lessons… super cool!

And it wasn’t just me, there were several guys there I knew from the area – all fantastic players and really nice guys who know what they’re doing.

So fast forward a few years, seems those lesson are still quite popular at a website called iperform3d.com.

In fact, I worked out a deal with them such that if you’re interested in a 1 year membership to their site, you can get it for $20 off by entering the promo code “griff” at checkout.

Now this deal is only good through October 31, and it’s a great deal on a great membership that I know you’d get a lot out of.

So check out Iperform3D and let me know how I look all digital-like!

Plan to purchase your program in January,,,,,Kind of an old duff (73) to be getting started but som’tin I’ve wanted to do since just after the civil war…..Hoping your going to have a “sale” similar to the $40 bucks off as in your birthday deal at $107???…..Stealing the use of a guitar from one of the G’Kids…Just have to wait until he’s not looking…Interested in “porch cords” for my own enjoyment…..Love your emails, keep ’em coming……When I get to the level of Van Eps I’ll send to a disc…..Any special instructions for that 7th string???…..

Griff, I just want to say thanks for all your time and selfless contributions to teaching and sharing the gift of guitar/music. As broke as I am, I am thinking to try this approach. Amazing technology! With your discount and the sale price Trovato is offering, a years membership is only $79.95 – or $6.66 per month. That’s crazy! Hopefully, you and the other instructors receive a royalty??? Anyways, if not for you, I would have never known of this opportunity. I only own an acoustic, but I suppose it doesn’t really matter…although string bending sure doesn’t seem to sound the same as when I watch you do it on an electric. I do wish they featured some bluegrass lessons, too – maybe you could pass that along to your friend and put the name of Jay Buckey in his ear 😉 Thanks again!

Awesome…..technology is advancing so much faster than I am. Currently in Belize with a Taylor acoustic 414 LTD with an infinity picup system. I want to get your Blues course when I get back to the states next year.
Keep the great tips and lessons coming I love em.

I have been a memeber from the beginning and i must say this is a great teaching tool however i really liked the first production of this system better! the format and controls are not as good as the first run of this program!

    • dennis hollenbeck

How will this affect YOUR business, Griff? It seems that I would need to commit my daily lesson time to utilizing this service?

      • Griff

@dennis – I don’t think it really affects my business, though I can’t say I really thought of it that way. I think people that want to learn from me and like the way I do things will continue to learn from me and support me in that way. But I also know that not everyone who reads my newsletter is 100% committed to my approach.

What’s most important is being on some program or system of some sort with teachers who know what they are doing. I don’t necessarily care if it’s my system (though it’s always nice) but my primary goal above all else is to get you playing and learning on the right track. If that means steering you to something else, that’s okay in the end.
