Freddie King is one of the three Kings of the Blues; others include Albert and B.B.

Freddie King recently joined the ranks of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and to celebrate this much deserved award, I collected a few video clips that feature King doing what he does best – play the blues.  The first video features a great version of the Freddie King classic, “Boogie Funk.”  In the second video, King slows it down quite a bit and and plays a soulful rendition of the song, “Have You Ever Loved A Woman.”  The last video I’ll leave you with features Freddie King and his band grooving to the tune, “Shake Your Bootie.”  All three songs offer a classic glimpse back in time to one of the great blues masters, Freddie King.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!

Freddie King plays with a force that’s as big as his frame.  hear the master in action at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdyvPg0c6bI.

Playing the blues means telling a story, and it’s always good to tell a story with as much emotion as you can.  Freddie King doesn’t even need words to tell the story in this next video.  Check it out at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mE9H1bW-zQ4&feature=related.

This last video proves that Freddie King can groove as well as I can play the blues.  Listen to him jam on the song, “Shake Your Bootie,” at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLPtDJ8LtOI&feature=related.

There are plenty more Freddie King videos out there for you to see, so make sure you check out as much as you can.  King inspired not only blues guitarists, but guitarists in all music genres, all over the world.  I hope you enjoyed these videos!

Thanks,

Griff

I love the Four Kings. I’ve been told my style is coming into a Freddie King with my roots of Zepplin, SRV, and Hendrix mixed. I don’t know about all that. I do know that Freddie and the other 3 Kings have got to be my most enjoyable type of listening ever. No one can tell a story with as few notes as these Great Guitar Masters can. One thing no one has ever been able to tell though, are the 4 kings brothers or related in some way? Music is music so it doesn’t truly matter except to satisfy my own curiosity. I have you to thank for getting me into the blues Griff. I saw your first youtube video just days after it was posted. THANK YOU!!

Freddie King was one of the greats for sure. I saw him on one of Don Kirshner’s concerts and have been a fan ever since.

Freddie passed on way too early in life! RIP!

Very niiiice! Had heard of Freddie King, but never heard his guitar playing. Looking forward to more. As an active drummer for near 20 yrs, I’m now retired (health issues). Can still squeeze a note or two outta my Fender, tho. Have to try some of his stuff.

      Be Cool,
