So the other day I was Christmas shopping with my wife and this song came on the background music. What caught my ear was how it’s a lesson straight out of Blues Guitar Unleashed (The Stormy Slide) and was yet another place where I heard it used in a “real” song 🙂

Now, in the recording I heard (don’t know the band, sorry) the bass player was doubling the guitar on the little walkup. But I got to thinking that it would sound great even just by itself, and I think it sounds just fine.

But I’ll let you play with it and see if you think so too.

Hey Griff- First of all, let me start by wishing you and your family a Merry X-mas and A Happy New year to the best teacher on the web!!!! I was wondering if, while you were searching for Christmas songs to do…….you might consider giving “A Christmas Song” by Nat King Cole (1961) a whirl. Just a thought………. Keep up the GREAT WORK!!!!!

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to you and all your family also Griff. I enjoy all your lessons, you are a very gifted teacher and extreamly knowledgeable in the music field.

    • Don Stephens

Merry Christmas Griff. Really enjoy your lessons. Even an old timer like myself with a 51 year history on guitar can learn new tricks from your videos. Many things come as refreshers though from back in the day when learning a hot new lick involved listening to it over and over on record till you figured it out (literally beating your head against the wall). If your lessons were available back then the learning process would’ve been much quicker as well as easier.

      Many Thanks, Don

I have been trying to play the Charles Brown version for years-got the intro down and trying to figure out the tasty guitar parts. I found today’s lesson from your lesson section you did in 2012. I really enjoy your e-mail lessons. Nice timing. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Great Thank you. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

I’ve had a tough year first I had a complete knee replacement and then I had diagnosed with stage III prostate cancer it was very aggressive.

So I hadn’t been able to play much. I am primary a bass player but I do play 6 string and I’m definitely going to learn this song.

      Keep up these great videos.
Again have a very merry Christmas and a blessed new year.

Merry Christmas Griff from Alberta, Canada!
Your BGU courses that I have followed have made me a guitar player instead of just a guy who plays guitar.
Lately, my jam buddy’s have been asking me to step forward and take the lead and the feeling is awesome.
A large part of this is to your credit for teaching and inspiring me to confidence!
Thank you and have a fabulous New Year. I look forward to all of your e-mails and tips to lead me forward.
