Around here we have something they like to call a “picking circle” where a whole bunch of folks get together with guitars and go around the room calling tunes.
It’s a great way to jam and have a lot of fun and learn a lot of new tunes quickly!

I’ve been part of a bi-weekly acoustic guitar circle for eight years and it’s great. We’ll sneak in an extra here and there. It’s been a great way for me to go deep on songs I select to bring to the sessions.
The only issue I have is when a banjo player shows up. 😉

Good stuff, Griff. I recently started attending one, sometimes two, of these per week. The group I joined is basically all instruments, all genres, all levels. They are mostly guitars, a couple of basses, violin, mandolins, and even a cajon. Our advantage is that we have someone that projects the chords and lyrics on a big screen for all to see. It is great fun. It does sometimes get a bit messy and the app they use is not necessarily how I know the song.
Great stuff! This really covers a lot of good, solid basics that arent always obvious (at least to me) and really helps to organize the chaos that seem to make up jams. Thanks!
