Most of the time when you play with a group or at a jam you’re playing rhythm, so you’d better know what you’re doing.
These are my tried-and-true basics for playing with a band and they work really well almost any time at all.
More of this kind of stuff can be found in Blues Guitar Unleashed and How To Build Blues Songs.

Thanks Griff for the rhythm riff. I often wondered what would help my confidence and be able to play all the time at. a Jam session with friends. this way I get to work on my counting too.
Thanks Griff. I have been following you for a while. But find a lot of your stuff very complex. What would be a good starting point for me? Been playing guitar now for about 5 years. I’ consider myself an intermediate type guitarist.
If you are an intermediate guitarist looking to learn the blues language, Blues Guitar Unleashed (https://bluesguitarunleashed.com/get-blues-guitar-unleashed/) is always the place to start.
Great Griff, love the chickety chic.
It helped me if I put the counting in my head first, 1ah,2ah,3ah,4ah
then I rewound the video several times to play the chords with you at beats 2 & 4.
I’m giving up on the six string guitar and going with a Ukulele which was given to me by a friend,
It seems less complicated. Using Ukulele Blues by Manitoba Hal.
Maybe you have something similar? I would love that.

I too am a BGU convert to the UKE…
There is a Monday night class 6:30 pm PST from Kev of the tiki nation…( he’s from San Diego )
You can RSVP via meet-up or try and sign up via the tiki nation website. ( he has three other classes )
The biggest thing with the Uke is to switch to a “low-G” string…
Good luck!
Also give a thought to a Baritone Uke as it has the Same strings as the guitar from 1st to 4th string. E,B,G and D. That way you can learn small chords and triads that will work on the guitar exactly the same.
Love your videos. Just found your sight. Been working on my counting and the 7th and 9th chords. I would rather play rhythm. Want to learn to play the blues by myself mixing the rhythm and lead.
