This is just a fun lick that I’ve known for many years and play all the time. It’s one of the 20 Turnaround and Ending Licks which is one of the bonuses that comes with Blues Guitar Unleashed… but I’ve noticed a lot of people miss it and some of the best stuff is in there 🙂
Need to download the video? MP4 | WMV
And I put the TAB for this lick here

Love theses little short video’s Griff!! Perfect for us back porch players, as you call us in the states!
Hi Griff, Awesome vid as usual. Could you answer an odd question please? The T-style guitar played in this lesson is what brand? Is it setup as purchased or did you modify it?
Thankx a million for taking the time to respond to my inquiries!
Great stuff! As always😎
Nice…that’s the way to end it…..no pun intended…Lol!
You are the best!!love your video! ! 😎😎
Great lick, easy to learn and I’ve heard it elsewhere with other blues guitar players. Keep it coming!
Great lick! I have bought two of my favorite guitars from Wildwood. Cool people, still.
This one was tricky for me (most of them are). I had trouble around 1:30 of the video. But I wrote down all of the fret positions so I should be able to get it.
Griff!
Didn’t know we were once neighbors! Wildwood and the guys there are my best buds, been buying guitars there for 35 years. Who was the teacher ( Bob Story?) anyway… I live in Broomfield Co and still in Wildwood on very regular basis. Great lick thanks
The teacher was Joe Scott… He’s not there anymore, hasn’t been for quite a few years.
I can dig it! Cool!
Fantastic. Been using that lick for warm ups What a great little ending lick.
Griff.all your material is good let’s spice it up a little bit..
How about some Jimi Hendrix.oh ya..
Great arrangement, good exercise for a warmup.
Thanks Griff. I got it right away. Very cool
pretty sure the tab lacks the two slides
Yes.
first bar: 4th string , 8 to 9 fret with 2nd finger
second bar: 4th string , 8 to 9 fret with 3rd finger. Finally, 6th string, 6 to 7 fret, 3rd finger.

Hey Tater,

Very cool griff…thanks again
Griff – sweeet! Thank you
The link to the tab does not work or maybe it is just my system.
Works for me????
Nice. Thanks, Griff. Gotta work a tiny bit on my timing, but I’m pleased to say that I got it before you finished the video. Again, nice! Would love to see more stuff (occasionally) that is something that can be put to work right away.
Peace.
Griff,
I just started learning this lick from your “20 turnarounds and ending licks” supplement (lick # 6). That little manual has so much blues in it! Thanks for all you do!!
merci pour cet article, hate de vous lire
Muy buena lección, me parece q son cosas prácticas q hay que llevarlas a escena, gracias Griff por el lick!
Thank You Griff !! I just love this ending riff and to think you have been playing it for 30 years just amazes me !! Again thank you !

Hi Griff, very sweet and a really cool way for an ending………..Good as Usual…
Thank you very much..

How sweet it is, my guitars love this ending and so do I. Keep these little but effective lessons coming through.

Loved it Griff. Particularly appealed to me as I have only actually managed to get around to one other “trash-can ending” (lifted from your BGIAB course) and it has really put me in the mood to get some others going.
Ive been looking for a stock ending I could use and this one with some plagiarism will work great.
Thx again!!!
Here is another lesson for you,for bgu
Various type of endings.
With swing,straight,etc…
This is probably the first time I heard one with no bending. By the way , is there any blue song without bends? Thank you.
Sweet! Used it last evening on stage after the drum thrash. ‘Repeated the final phase, though? It went down well.
Thanks again!!
As always Griff great job on the explanation and thanks for sharing the lick and instruction.
Couldn’t this also be used as a beginning or lead-in? Nice sound!
Cool lick Griff! Thanks for sharing!
Griff, thanks so much for all you do for all of us.
Its easy to see and hear the joy in your video.
Thanks for sharing~!

PS: How do your fans get a copy of your cd/Album(s)~??
I enjoyed your ‘end lick’ lesson. As always you make it easy to follow what you are playing. I must stop feeling I need to counter the negative comment of the likes of Randy Hastings, for I am sure you have, what we call broad shoulders in Scotland’and, can ignore ‘smart’ comment from people that find it necessary to correct you. My brother-n-law make a life mission to do the same be it music knowledge or my use of the Queen’s English. Since I do not set myself up as an authority in either subject, I too can ignore his comments. You do what you do very well and ignore the ‘smart ones’ out there.
Griff. BBG DUNC here and boy, am I wrong or do I sense some sounds of the 1st four licks of the BBG course in your 30 year old ending? I love it! Thanks and keep Bluzzin Brother!
Loving your guitar…where did you get that?
Great sounding riff, but, Why do you start on the B note ?
Hi Griff, great lick my friend. However, the 7th note of the lick is a “D” on the 3rd string 7th Frett not on the 9th Frett as you stated in the video. I know, Freudian Slip. People don’t realize how hard it is to teach and talk trying to convey strings, fretts, fingers. I always mess up trying to teach friends songs that I play.
Thanks,
Randy Hastings in NY.
I made it a point to learn that one long ago. Great lick. Thanks
Thanks for your time and efforts Griff cool lick !!!!!
Hi Griff,
I’ve got your Blues Guitar Unleashed Course(everybody following you should pick it up)and I really appreciate getting the little added attractions like this one. Thanks, Matt.
Hi Griff! Thanks for sharing this. Its great. I know this is too much to ask and maybe someone else on this forum could help me, but for us beginners who want to memorize this, is there a way to explain what fingers you use when switching to the different notes. I would like to copy this exactly as I am sure you know the most efficient path. I am having a hard time slowing this down quite enough to follow which fingers you use on a few sections.
Griff, being the beginner that I am It can get frustrating trying to put all the new things together. This simple to play but very cool riff made it feel like progress for me again. These little tips and riffs you send everyday are priceless and go a long way in keeping my motivation high. Thank you
Hi Steve, I know what you mean but not all guitar players use the same fingers for every lick, I know Griff uses his finger position to make it easier to get to the next note, but you need to try different ways yourself to find what’s easier for you. Hope this helps.
Saddler.
Hi Steve I’ve posted my 2cents worth to your question but I don’t know why but it’s posted further down the line. Take a look.Hope I’ve helped

Thanks for the great ending, Griff, very cool. If any of your visitors would like to check self-radicalization.org/ (uploading to reel33 currently- type reel33 like that in the search box and then click GO to the right of it!) then I would be a very happy guy!
All the best, and thanks for the lessons.
thanks Griff, can’t wait to get These little gems..
Great lick! Pls know that your time and effort to give us these videos is greatly appreciated. I own your Acoustic Blues course and would recommend it to anyone who wants a high quality course for playing Blues Guitar. 🙂
It’s cool & thanks for sharing!!!! Keep the videos coming! Big D.
thanks as always Griff… your passion always offers more than just the lesson
That should work quite well. Thanks!
IT’s cool & thanks for sharing!!!! keep video coming.
In response to Anthony, I would think of this more as a major pentatonic lick with a little minor pentatonic, thrown in, in the middle section.
Your signiture sounds good, every guitarist should have his er hers own . ya got this un copyrighted . its cool that you share I may use pieces parts thanx
Thanks, Griff. I found three or four really tasty riffs hidden in the big one. That makes my day.
I just love these Griff riffs…..keep em coming….you da best!
smooth lick…thanks…later.

It might be worth while to tell us Griff-followers that most of those notes are in the 3rd box (of G minor pentatonic) finishing with box 2. Since we already know those positions, learning it is much easier because we are familiar with that pattern. Now we just need to throw in a major note or maybe a couple of quick “off notes”. Otherwise its just a bunch of notes that sound great but make no sense. Also, once you realize it is an expanded BOX run, you can doodle around and add or subtract notes that you know will fit.
Once I realized it, I watched it a second time and it was so much easier to follow and ultimately memorize because I could see where you were going and why it worked and where the “passing” notes were. Now, if I wanted to vary it a little, I can use Griff’s boxes to tell me where to focus.
This is not meant to criticize. Just knowing the boxes allowed me to visualize it much easier and I think it will help others also.
I agree, I learn better knowing what scale the lick is based on too
Nice moves, thanks Griff
Griff , what a great ending, I love it. Thanks, Mike Z.
Nice little lick there Griff….
Excellent job of teaching it….
Fantastic Shirt Man!!!!!!!!!
Hi Griff,
