Many moons ago I use to be able to play the drums and sing in a band in the 60’s but find that playing the Blues guitar requires a lot more concentration and your method may well work for me and I will give it my best shot.

Regarding that stretch with the pinky – I’ve come up with a solution that suits me – I use my middle finger instaed of the ring finger, and that enables an easier stretch with the pinky.
It takes a bit of practice (like everything else) but I’ve found that this eases a lot of the strain on the pinky.

How come You did not use Marilyn Monrows vocals for this that slow approch is almost the same . If the key is changed like in C OR A OR EVEN B WEATH OF MUSIC IN THERE . All that 12 bar blues stuff . I have always played Happy Birthday in single notes . Could of used this idea last night it was my bass players 50th over the hill club party . You HAVE YOURSELF A VERY MERRY HAPPY LITTLE BIRTHDAY !

hi Griff, happy birthday mate, been playing a year and a half and i am so confused about the hole guitar thing dont know what to do what to practice just totally, i dont want to give up, but dont know where to turn. all the best Griff, and again happy birthday mate.
Thanks Griff, this addressed two issues at the same time – how to sing and count simultaneously and also that this and the national anthem of your own country are the two tunes every guitar player should know, as there’s every likelihood you’ll be somewhere where you may be asked to play these at some point.
