It seems like Warren Haynes has been busy in the last couple years. I’ve always been a fan of Gov’t Mule and his time with the Allman Brothers, plus some of his solo work too. But now I have a new project of his to follow. In the last couple of years, Warren has put together a new project called the Warren Haynes Band, and I gotta tell you the band sounds great. The group has a new album out now called “Man in Motion,” and if the tracks are anything like their live performances then I better go buy a copy right away. I collected a few of the live performances from blues festivals and DVD productions alike that are sure to please. So sit back and enjoy what Warren and his band does best.

Here’s one of the earlier performances from the group, specifically in 2010, when the band was first getting underway. Check out this performance of the song, “Rivers Gonna Rise,” at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6aB1Br7mQ0.

In 2011, it looks like a few members might have been changed out in the band so check out the newer group and the band’s title track, “Man in Motion,” at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qT4Lal3W5Tg.

The latest DVD production to come from the band came from a show that happened not too long ago at the Moody Theater. Enjoy this great rendition of “A Change if Gonna Come,” featuring some outstanding vocals from Warren, the backup singer and the keyboardist. This band is full of talent at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SeGEhkAv7_Q.

I hope you dig this new project that Warren Haynes is leading up. It doesn’t seem like anything he’s done before, and I think the guy is lucky to be in a position to explore many of his music preferences and inspirations. There’s more coming your way at Blues Guitar Unleashed, so stay tuned.

Thanks,

Griff
