Well this has certainly been an exciting last couple of days…

The response to my new, Country Guitar Unleashed course has been nothing short of overwhelming and I’m so thrilled that so many of you are already enjoying the course and many more are excited to get into it…

Today’s lesson is a stripped-down version of one of the lessons in the course, but I wanted to give you a feel for something that is truly traditional country, and not something you really do any place else. It’s what I call the “Boom-Chick” rhythm and is most evident in songs like, “Folsom Prison Blues.” (I know, a “blues,” but that’s just the name, it’s not like a traditional blues tune.)

And, like I said, if you want to get in on the special launch discount, you can do that at https://bluesguitarunleashed.com/get-cgu-launch/ through Sunday night at midnight.

You can download the slow speed version of the jam track here

And the full speed version here.

Yee Ha! I think I avoided country music like the plague but still played it from time to time growing up. I love “On the road again” by Willie Nelson and Glen Campbell was and is one of my all time favs. Good way to practice my counting while I am playing too.

Thanks, Griff: that is RIGHT WHERE I AM IN THE COURSE! Ex 3-8. I already do some of this, but even your basic lessons always show me something new or another way to look at something. I’m primarily a bass player, so it needs runs on some those beats, especially if is a solo effort, Oh,, and I ve always heard it deferred to as “boom chuck”. I’m already envisioning a rhythm licks and fills course for Country guitar. I’ve got All Access and I’m going through all 3 Unleashed courses at the moment and still practicing the beginning Blues Lead licks. This one is my focus at the moment, so I’ll probably bog down in the others for now. You can be at the same place in all 3! I’m getting better and better at counting- which I never used to do, too. Thanks. Looking forward to doing a little more. Chord- chasing soon!

Thanks, Griff, I just wanted to say you finally hit the last genre of music, I play quite a lot of. I have several
of your Blues courses and your Classic Rock course. They are all very helpful and tons of things to go over and try to learn. Looking forward to purchasing the Country guitar course you just posted. For years, I’ve played for older crowds in the VFW’s, American Legions, etc. and they just want good old dance music, which entails a fair amount of country music. I’ve played for years but one trouble I’ve had is a lot of times my lead playing for some of the of the country songs start sounding more bluesy than country, and I would like to fix that. Anyway, looking forward to your course. Thanks again!!!
