A few days ago I shared a video on the Blues Guitar Unleashed facebook page featuring SRV and Dick Dale playing their version of the classic surf song, “Pipeline.” The response I got from that video was out of this world, so it inspired me to share it here on the blog. But I didn’t want to just share with video, because I like to give a little more in these posts, so I came across a couple more videos featuring SRV, his brother Jimmy Vaughan, and even a live performance with all the rest of the Fabulous Thunderbirds. All the videos are great, so I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!
I wanted to start off with the video that spurred hundreds to respond on the Blues Guitar Unleashed facebook page. SRV and Dick Dale filmed an 80s music video together playing the classic surf song, “Pipeline,” at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWw55XhTehg.

SRV and Jimmy Vaughan grew up together in the Austin, TX blues music scene. Check out this cool duet from the two monster guitarists at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdmlEZAWYIM.

Lastly, in the same concert as the duet, SRV and Jimmy are joined by the rest of the Fabulous Thunderbirds for this cool live version of the song, “What I Say,” at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atQ84qkQgg4.

I hope you dug watching all these videos as much as I did. I’m so thankful we have access to all this great live footage from decades of stellar music. There’s more coming your way at Blues Guitar Unleashed, so stay tuned.
Thanks,
Griff

These arae great videos Griff
Though Stevie Ray only played what others before him created, he brought a unique new life to it. He started the blues revive in his days and he is the whole reason I picked up a guitar and started playing 25 years ago. I’ll never forget the day I heard about his death. He still inspires me to play the blues.
I don’t know if it is true but I read that he recorded “Little Wing” in one take without a single mistake. Put your headphones on, sit back and listen to the amazing sounds that came so fluid.
Someday I will make the trip to Austin and have my picture taken with Stevie Ray. My guitar hero.
What I say..pipeline…way way cool…sure miss stevie…Austin’s not the same with out him…if your a guitar player…pay tribute at his statue at Town Lake in Austin…thanks Griff
Stevie is my man , the Thunderbirds have a culmination of all the blues masters combined , I love it , what more can I say , as a pair the brothers are very magnificent , prodigy
