Few slide guitarists are as well known as Sonny Landreth. Landreth has had an awesome solo career in music, producing albums for over three decades and has an impressive list of guest appearances including Jimmy Buffett, John Hiatt, Eric Johnson, Eric Clapton and Mark Knopfler. I threw together three videos that offer some cool live performances with Sonny Landreth. Two of them feature his own trio and on the third video, Landreth joins up with Mark Knopfler. I hope you enjoy the videos as much as I did!
The first video features Sonny Landreth and his trio performing his song, “Congo Square.” This video was the best live video and audio quality, even though it’s shot from somebody in the crowd. Check it out at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eckRRH6qfqk&feature=related.

In the second video, Sonny Landreth is joined again by his trio but this time they perform one of his instrumental tracks. Check it out at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pf2k7WpkIxQ.

In the last video, as promised, Sonny Landreth joins up with Mark Knopfler to play his song, “Gravy Train.” It looks to me like the video comes from the Jools Holland show, since Holland is sitting in on the organ. Enjoy the video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOJHSrxHNhw&feature=related.

Sonny Landreth is one of the best slide guitarists on the music scene today and is a great player to model your own slide playing after. There are plenty more videos from Landreth to check out so I encourage you to do so. I hope you enjoyed the videos!
Thanks,
Griff

Lovin Sonny Landreth’s style. Currently going through anything I can find on youtube. Could we have a Sonny Landreth style slide lesson?
My video keep up with these guys? No way, vato; man that audio is awful schweet, though~
Think the knopfler clip is from ‘A night in London’ DVD. Might be wrong but it looks very familiar…
Thanks for the links to Sonny! Wow! Very cool to see these videos of a master slide guitarist!
I have your intro to slide course so I’m just getting started on slide. Sure would like to see you add to that course to give it more meat, Griff.
