Walter Trout is still hitting it hard on stage in front of audiences all around the world. Photo courtesy of Wikipedia.org

One of the fixtures in my music life has been Walter Trout. For those of you who may not know, Walter and I gigged at a lot of the same spots in Orange County. In fact, he and I even went to the same chiropractor if you can believe it. Since I used to see him around the Orange County gig scene, he was a big influence on me and one of the guys that really pushed me into playing music full time. He and I talked about his success in Europe versus America and a bunch of other things, and I gotta tell you… he was very humble and gracious toward me. And in addition to all that, he’s one great guitarist. He’s one of the few guys I know of that uses a strat and a boogie, and I’ll let you be the judge when you see him play in these videos below. I’ve always considered Walter one of my mentors and I really hope you enjoy listening to his music below.

I actually got the inspiration to write my song, “Louisiana Holiday,” by listening to Walter’s tune, “Victor the Cajun.” I’m sure you’ll be able to hear some of the similarities in this video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5hD9GpHfho.

It’s tough to be considered a great blues guitarist if you can’t play through “Red House.” Fortunately, Walter kills it in this video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4vusv0_VVc.

Lastly, Walter is known as a great songwriter as much as he is a killer guitarist. Here’s a great tune of his called, “Cry If You Want To,” at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fInoLi29LdE.

I hope you enjoyed Walter Trout, his band and his music. He’s still one of my favorites and I hope he becomes one of yours as well. There’s more coming your way at Blues Guitar Unleashed so stay tuned.

Thanks,

Griff

Had the chance to see him twice at a local blues festival…first time it was pouring rain during his set so they brought him back again the next year…and I did see him do “Red House”…and dedicate a song to his wife…killer player…later.
