While I talk a lot about timing and counting, what I’m really talking about are the subdivisions of the beats…

If you can keep track of the 1/8th notes, triplets, and 1/16th notes with your inner clock, you’ll be able to play faster and better across all styles of music.

And if you think that simply doing it is going to make you faster, I’m afraid you’ll be disappointed in the results. There is a time and place where you have to consciously try to subdivide faster and push the speed…

Or it just won’t happen for a really long time.

Griff I got your Blues Guitar Unleashed CD’s a couple years ago and believe me when I say this, I have played off and on for 45 years and always got stuck. Your lessons have made me a fairly decent guitar player. Before your lessons I couldn’t “PICK MY NOSE” you have opened a HUGH DOOR and I climbed right on in. Thank you so MUCH. I will have my wife aka the FACEBOOK Queen spread your name on FB, as will I. Thanks Again, Griff. “YOU THE MAN”!!!

Gold! I had to hunt to revisit the subdivisions…11:22 through 13:27. Both the names and counts seem logical and familiar. Even trivial. Until I hit Pause and had to count and tap…

And it catches me in a place where I need to nail down boxes and chord harmonies. Today I am just counting. Soon use the format with scales and devices.

I took some notes Griff. I’m on it. I’m going to go practice this stuff for a while and see how I do. I like your idea of always having a little more in the tank than you need.
