A lot of times people get hung up on soloing simply because they don’t have a good idea of what soloing is going to sound like when they “get it.”
So if you’ll indulge me for a moment, take a watch at this video and see what you think, is it soloing?
This same idea is actually how Beginning Blues Guitar Soloing starts, so if this connects with you, and you’re struggling with soloing, that might be a good next step for you.

Wow, that was fantastically insightful for me, thanks Griff. Ironically it has really helped me with the pentatonic scale too! Happy anniversary to you both! 🙂
Happy Anniversary Griff! Another Great lesson!
The Keys to the Highway! The root, the flatted 3rd, 4th, and flatted 7th!
This really helps to see them and know them, right there from any root..
Guitar theory, the pentatonic scale and the 4 note solo all slipped in there!
Safe Travels! Keep On Truckin’!
Happy Anniversary, you two! Erin go bragh! 🙂
I’m currently working on your Soloing Without Scales course now! Man what an awesome course. It really gets beginner level guitarists on the right path to soloing. Because of this course I am counting everything out. I never did before, and that was a mistake. Highly recommend this course.
Happy anniversary Griff, …I sometimes think about the early years learning and practicing guitar and asking questions that the people I was asking couldn’t seem to answer, even the experienced players and musicians that I knew didn’t know how to answer or maybe just didn’t or couldn’t understand what I was asking… I’ll think about that most generally after a lesson with you that always seems to clear something else up that I had been trying to understand… I just can’t tell you Griff how valuable I find these lessons, I have an ah ha moment within each one, I can’t help but find myself anxious for the next one lol, udaman…
Thank you Griff. I have learned so much about soloing by watching your videos. Thanks again. Happy anniversary to you and your wife!
Great reminder. Thanks
Wonderful wakeup lesson. Nice slowed down step by step sequence. New insights! Many new insights. Never looked at the good old pentatonic scale this way. My Telecaster is going to be very happy later today. Thank you, Griff, very much. Happy anniversary from an Irishman in Colorado that has followed you for many years. Your gifts have always helped me.
Blues without theory is great… in theory.
