This is one of my personal favorite Christmas songs by one of my biggest heroes, BB King…
It’s called, “Back Door Santa,” and obviously it’s his typical tongue-in-cheek style.
When you listen to it, I want you to think about a few things (and feel free to leave answers in the comments if you think you’ve got them…)
- Can you tell by listening if it’s a 12 bar blues or not?
- Can you tell by listening when is the I chord, the IV chord, and the V chord?
- Can you hear if there are things like a “quick change” or any other common blues variations?
There are so many common song form, and blues rhythm and soloing elements present in a song like this, that it would be hard to even list them here…
If you’re an All Access Pass Member, you’ll be happy to hear that we’ll be playing this song this month!
So you’ll have access to not only all you need in the various lesson videos, but we’ll be talking about how to put them altogether and play the song in our live sessions.
If you’re not an All Access Pass Member, I’ve got a good opportunity for you to give it a shot.
Now, enjoy some blues from the master (and don’t forget to keep your big ears on…)

What Jim said – YES, YES, & Yes
To answer your 3 questions: Yes. Yes. And Yes. After nearly 10 years of BGU, I’d be really disappointed if I answered No to any of them. Fun tune! Thanks!
We agree 100%!
Great song. Always a Christmas favorite. Looking forward to the AAPM study of this song.
What’s to say? Who doesn’t love BB (especially around the holidays)? Can’t get enough!
Hey Griff, how much does your All Access Pass cost.
