When my students come to me wanting to learn a specific blues song, they often don’t realize they already know it…

Or, rather, they’ve played all of the parts of this song from other songs they’ve learned.

If you learn the parts that make up a blues song (intros, breaks, bridges, forms, and endings) you can learn songs very quickly…

Or, if you’re into writing your own songs, you have quite a palette of options to choose from.

Thank you for this overview Griff. I have watched it twice now and will watch it again probably a few times. Really helps understand the flow.

      Hey Griff,
Love your lessons and as a blues player for well over 30 years I find I can still learn from you now and then.
It’s come to mind that you focus a lot on counting bars and how to count them which is all well and good as all musicians should be familiar with and know how to count. That said, it’s my experience over the years that those who play blues and play it well and with skill don’t need to count but simply “feel” the music. I’ve never really counted music or even felt that I needed to count. I simply felt it and instinctively knew when to do this or that. All other blues musicians that I’ve played with all felt it within them as I did.I don’t know if “feeling” the music is something that can be taught but rather is a natural instinct that one is born with. Anyway, keep up the good work. Cheers!!!
