Blues “comping,” or blues rhythm playing, can seem somewhat overwhelming when you hear people talk about all kinds of different chord shapes…

How are you supposed to remember them all?

And when do you use them?

The good news is, with one basic chord shape and a little bit of know-how, you can modify that one, simple chord shape into darn near anything you can think of.

Heh Griff: Does Blues Guitar Unleashed cove the 5 styles and show how to play the chords?
Thanks! This looks like a really great learning experience.

      Thanks Griff,
I love learning all these variations you teach, they really help
How I play and how I think about my playing.
Your process has really helped me grow as a musician.

      Griff,
Is this part of a course? A lot of good theory here but much to quick to get it all down.

A lot of this is covered in both Blues Guitar Unleashed and some in 52 Rhythm Fills And Variations. BGU would be the best place to get it.

Awesome Griff!!! Keeping it rhythmic and melodic instead of loud and choppy will become my specialty. Many Thanks for your insight and free lessons!!!

This stuff should be thoroughly learned before deep-diving soloing. I wish I had done it that way when I learned way back (and, I mean WAY back!) in the day! The subject deserves its own full course, imho…

      • Griff

It’s covered pretty extensively in Blues Guitar Unleashed, I don’t think there’s enough “more” to warrant a separate course for it.

That was cool Griff. I am going to go goof around and practice using these little chords instead of those crazy monster bar chords. I really like the sound better.

      Great lesson. Thanks Griff!
