I look forward to hearing big things from Larry McCray and his band. Photo courtesy of Wikipedia.org

Larry McCray is a new name to me, but I get the feeling that we’re going to be seeing a lot more of him in the years to come. From what I can tell, he’s been on the music scene for quite some time, touring extensively and making friends with some of the big names in blues music, so now may be his time to shine. There’s some great footage online of Larry McCray and his band, including some of his original tunes, some killer covers, and a whole lot of slammin’ guitar playing. This guy is worth the share and I hope to see him live sometime soon!

Larry McCray has performed many places around the globe including a local PBS appearance in Michigan. Check out this live show at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8EhCpFKndw.

Larry and his band have played a lot of small club dates too, live all the rest of us, and this next video featured some of the better audio and video I could find. Enjoy their live club show at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nitu_pqfikk.

Lastly, Larry and Warren Haynes must have crossed paths and become friends because he does a killer rendition of Warren’s song “Soulshine.” Enjoy this live rendition at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBBY1aysmtg.

I hope you dug hearing from this new soulful voice and guitar slinger, Larry McCray. I look forward to hearing more from him sooner than later. There’s more coming your way at Blues Guitar Unleashed, so stay tuned.

Thanks,

Griff

      Hi from Danmark
Larry is well known to the blueslovers in my little town Horsens in Jutland, Denmark. He has performed several times in Dk, and does so in a very authentic way, – always bringing the blues straight to the hearth.
The sound and feel he has, is delievered with next to nothing concerning pedals an all of the stuff, – really a cool player. And a true gentleman, often seen talking to the audience-guitar-nerd between sets, – cool guy.

“Same Old Blues” is one of my favorites, and Larry has that “same old blue”, but adds a new dimension touching his guitar, check him out !!

Boy Griff, if this guy don’t inspire your guitar playing desires or get you juices flowing, WHAT WILL??!!

Living in Grand Rapids Michigan we have seen Larry Play Several times at Blues on the Mall. He is amazing, and beyond friendly, a true gentleman!!!!!

What a soul singer! More soul/R&B than blues, at least from the clips you posted. But you can see the blues influence in his playing. Thanks for the heads-up Griff!
