I find a common misconception that if something is “easy,” then it’s also kind of lame…

So in today’s video, I’m going to take one of the licks from solo 1 of 5 Easy Southern Rock Solos and show you how it would sound without the element of syncopation in it (hint, yeah, it’s lame) and then show you how easy it is to add that syncopation and make it sound like a real melody.

I also have been playing for 5.5 decades.
I’ve attempted counting dozens of times, ultimately failing, but have been told by many musicians that my chord progression timing is right on.
Practicing lead work under Griff’s tutelage, has proven successful.
Practicing section by section, (start with the easy runs), progressively improving your speed & note accuracy in each section your working on.
Can’t you hear me Knocking, Stones
      Hotel California, Eagles
      Woodstock, CSNY….
Stevie Ray, & Gary Moore , Johnny A, are great players in my mind. So many guitarists that I’d like to emulate, & watching Griff on his daily lessons,
at me being 71, my darn fingers just don’t work like Griff’s do!
I can play the lead work listed here and others exactly like the original on any Guitar,
( I prefer my Gretsch Electromatic)
So I’ll keep practicing & hoping someday that Griff will honer us with an appearance at an Eastern Massachusetts Rock & Blues Club.
      Take care Griff,
      David

Cool lesson, Griff. I sound like I’m running scales too much. I’m going to try this out.

Wow what a valuable lesson, for someone who consistently fails at counting & playing. Believe you me ive tried , i can get so far but find it difficult consistently to get the playing and counting done. Ive gone through the Fix it lesson & Rhythmn figures but i continue to fail at playing/counting. Somehow this lesson shed more light on the process. Im no novice ive been playing for over 55 yrs and play everyday & thoroughly enjoy playing & have most of your courses. I play led zepplin & Pink Floyd but to play a complete solo elludes me although the Dave Gilmour course has got me closer. Thanks for your tireless application
