This is more how I would do a lesson in private, where instead of just putting the chords down in front of you, I want you to play along with me and we’ll start simple and then start bringing in more of the parts as we go.

Obviously it’s a video, you can stop and restart, so I won’t do quite as many passes through each run but I hope you’ll try and play along and add these changes and this tune to your repertoire.

No complaints here!! Great lesson. Would like to see more songs presented/taught this way.

I loved it. I don’t get a chance to play along with other people.. This was/is great! Thank You so much!

I agree with many of the earlier comments. A very helpful way to learn more technical songs. Really enjoyed this one, gonna work on it for my band!

Great stuff Griff. Hey just to let you know on third chorus chord – before the C chord I hammer off the 5th string first chord then hammer on the 6th string third fret and then double hammer on the 5th string third fret for added effect.

Fantastic!! Looking forward to more like this.
      Thanks, Griff!

Yes, thanks Griff, wonderful lesson. My friends and I are
Working on it…. Thank you so much for all the cool stuff
      You send out!

Wow! That was super cool. I actually sat down for once with my acoustic guitar and played along with Grif. I did it! I’m not as smooth as Grif, but I’m getting better each time I play it. Now I have some questions about the chord progression, but that is another matter. This was extra fun. I hope we do another session like this soon.

      Hello Griff.
Thanks for the challenge today. It’s one I’ve attempted in its most basic form a few times but my ear just doesn’t cut it and it remains an unobtainable goal of mine. The trouble is that just when I think I’ve got it down, I listen to the original again only to find I still haven’t got it. At that point I move on to something I know I’ll have some fun with for a while. Thanks again Griff.

      More please.

A great lesson on a great song. If you could do a lesson on the solo, or at least a dumbed down version, that would be really cool. Thanks

Great lesson on song that sounds easier to play than it is MAYBE show the electric version sometime SK

Great Lesson. Now how about showing us how to play the opening lick. The syncopation of that lick makes it very difficult. I couldn’t figure out how to count it even with the sheet music in front of me.

    • Benton

Woke up thinking about this song. And lo and behold, look what you offered for today. Thanks. I like the version…and particularly like he play along. As usual…thank you Benton

Adding the note after the Dm was MUCH easier once I re-fingered the Dm leaving the ring finger open to play it.

This way of learning a song really does stick better in my memory than reading a tab. Many thanks Griff for all your daily prompt’s, especially this one.
I really can’t wait for the next “play along with Griff”

This is really good stuff, Griff. I’m one of those that need to “get off the page” but I find it difficult, even with songs I work on a lot. I will work on this shortly.

    • Richard+Croce

Great job. More of this Griff.

Great lesson ! Love the way you slowed things down and made everything easily learnable…

    • Griff

Yes sir, I still teach privately as much as time allows. If you’re in the north Texas area feel free to reach out.

    • Steven Pugh

Love it Griff – don’t know why anyone would leave a nasty comment (your prediction after “give it a try”) this is the closest most of us will get to a 1:1 lesson with someone who is one of my guitar heroes, I’m talking about you Griff not EC! Many thanks for this session.
(This is definitely one for the looper while I try some twiddly bits on top – once I’ve sorted the timing of the rhythm out!)

It’s a good ‘n, Griff. It’s got me on my knees. Thanks, man!

Great lesson Grif, I’ve sort of fallen into the practice of learning (and largely forgetting) worship music songs which consist of basically just strumming along. I have purchased (and all too neglecting) the BGU All Access subscription. I sorely need to get back to that and this lesson inspires me. I really need some one on one lessons to keep me focused and staying a course. Are you still offering lessons? Thanks again for a great lesson on a classic unplugged rock song.
      Steve

Going to love adding this to my bag!
As always thanks for all the great lessons!
