Today’s lick also comes from “The House Pattern,” but utilizes something I like to call, “The Big Bend.”
Albert King, Freddie King, BB King, Clapton – they all use this technique and it’s as important as a bend as it is for rhythmic variation.

Great riffs using the house pattern, enjoying the subtle use in both major & minor chord sequences. I’ve been playing for over 50 years, but still struggle with timing ie counting & playing still remains virtually impossible. Not through lack of trying, I’ve purchased most of Griffs courses over the years, which improved my playing tremendously. I even purchased rhythmn figures but could only get so far, maybe at 68 I’ve achieved my limit. Having said that I love playing guitar everyday, probably more of a rocker, love using power chords, playing status Quo, pink Floyd Eagles etc. great videos thanks Griff
I could have written this myself!! Big difference for me is that seeing that I am able to learn gives me confidence in being able to continue to learn! Unfinished courses and licks and techniques that I cant apply at speed are in my current inventory…and I remain optimistic about continuing to learn by doing to fold concepts into music. Stay optimistic!!
At 67 Griff’s courses have made me sound appealing to my own ear. And I think that’s the end game…….making sense of your playing/soling and having fun/enjoyment doing it. I can also now “visualize” the common licks I hear in music I listen to.
