I do an acoustic blues duo with a buddy of mine once or twice a month on Sundays at a place down in Grapevine…
One day Joey pulled this out and played it and I dug the slightly country-fied version and thought I’d show it to you.
I hope you have fun with it and try it for yourself.

Thanks, Griff. I love all your videos even if I don’t understand them all (and that’s MY fault). Thank you for acknowledging us theory geeks and sharing your knowledge the way you do.
I’ve watched the video twice. I picked up good stuff the second time through that I missed the first time. Good lesson. May we have more please?
Griiff, Can you share the name of this place and when you might play it next? If it is a private place, never mind.
This is pretty cool. I have to confess, I am not going to grind it out on my acoustic. I have piezo saddles in one of my electrics and I have downloaded a Taylor IR for my POD Go. It’s “acoustic like” and I can learn faster. Maybe after I get this down I’ll drag out the acoustic? Probably not.
Excellent lesson Mr. Griff.
A few years back I started the BGU monster course. Seems I’ve been working out of it steadily on and off for a couple of years now. As I go over previously practiced lessons, I’m noting that they are easier to perform and sound almost like the real thing.
There is one misgiving about starting this course.
Ten I started buying more and more courses, until I bought the ABGU course. After taking as look at the contents, I made realized that I was doing things the hard way.
I seriously wish I had bought and worked thorough the Acoustic Blues Guitar Unleashed first.
The Acoustic Blues Guitar Unleashed isn’t necessarily easier or harder than Blues Guitar Unleashed (which is geared towards electric/band playing) but it is a very different approach to playing the blues. Fundamentally the notes don’t change, but how you get there is just a lot different when playing by yourself. For whatever reason, that resonated with you and it’s good that you found that out!
Great lesson Griff! However, I drive a truck and live in the Houston area and lived in Irving a few decades ago and was wondering what Sunday’s and where do you do these acoustic jams. Would love to come up to listen sometimes on my home time.
Yeah, I’d like to come too Craig but I live in Western
Australia. Best of luck with your playing.
Brian Brooker.
Would encourage all to listen to the 1970 Hot Tuna (Jorma Kaukonen) version which set a pretty high bar for this song.
Thanks for the reminder of that amazing album. I’ll have to pull out my old vinyl and give it a spin!
Yes, yes! I have been looking for more country style things like this. The “Big” F bar chord is my go-to when I see an F on a chart and I am playing with mostly open chords: it just happened that way. I have trouble grabbing the F chord that they teach you in beginning guitar, believe it or not and have been working on alternating fifths using the 4th string for the root with that chord for a lighter sound over the years. I would like to learn tumbling tumbleweeds with the intro that uses the nice vamp in C and have been working on it: I can’t figure out how to play the C# dim with that walking up pattern like I heard another guitar player do it at a show on a Riverboat cruise. I use 12’s for all of my acoustics, 10’s for electric and 11’s on my Taylor T-5 only. Thanks for the great lesson!
Hey Griff, Great little lesson for the Acoustic which I have Gibson 11’s on it and about to change to new strings but 11’s as my Acoustic is also electric.
I also have your course Strumming and Rhythm Mastery which is also good and will get back into that course as now Christmas is coming up, we go to a neighbours house and another guitarist who is a good singer as he is a prof entertainer and I play together for about 20 people and we play Carols and simple songs which he plays always in the same keys probably for singing. This is the only way I play my Acoustic with an audience.
Take care and Happy Thanksgiving today for you and your family in the US.

Thanks a terrific lesson. In fact, the best tips on F-bar chord I’ve seen.
Sweet. So easy?
Yeah I think I would like that course strumming and rythm mastery ESPECIALLY if it’s like this
Ty
Thanks Griff! This is a great lesson. BTW, I have played 10 gauge strings on my acoustic and 9 guage on my electric guitars for well over 50 years now. I made that decision way back in the 1960s and have stuck with it. I agree with BB King when he said to Billy Gibbons, “Why you workin’ so hard?” LOL…
What fun!
I love this Griff. Keep the acoustic blues coming!
I love this. Thank you so much .
I have to lay back down. My head is screaming. I will listen to this later. Thanks so much
I love this. Thank you so much
Love it… Thank you Griff for what you do! Jack
