I had a question from Chuck (one of our fearless forum moderators) about my choice for a lick for Position 3 (using the Blues Solo Construction Kit method) over Clapton’s “Have You Ever Loved A Woman” which is in Bb.
After looking through what he had used so far, I chose lick 1 for position 3, but I love Albert King (and as far as I’m concerned, Albert King or Freddie King licks are almost always the best answer 🙂

I saw Albert king in’68. That event decided lot for me,musically speaking.
B.B.King-damn good,Stevie Ray-oh yeah, but Albert King- the king of the blues
Wow, who can argue against Albert King? Thanks.WLB
U amaze me every video, with teaching style and virtuoisity. Ur patience knowledge and explanation is always on point and succinct. Just saying. Like uve not heard before. But i certainly appreciate it with my limited skills. Thanks.
That was a very cool “private lesson” for Chuck that you let us in on !!! Very cool.
If I ever get through BGU…this sounds like a fun course!
Great job as always. Good stuff!
Guys: hate to say this but I just wing it. I listen to what’s ilikebest usually Albert K because he’s easiest for me. Playing a few times, and then play it the way it makes me feel right. Add some stuff I like as well, and that’s it. Only problem is it never sounds the same way twice.
Like it!.. Thanks!
Just a little critique. A 4 minute 29 second video with 3 minutes and 19 seconds of talking?
To me, All the licks are good.
when you are playing rhythm part of a song….how do you know when to start a solo and then jump back into the rhythm to continue onward or even start a new solo as you get into the ZONE….
Well, I was trying to use Position 3, Lick 5 but now that I hear you use Lick 1, I agree that it is probably the best choice. It also leaves me off where I want to be.
Thank you so much!
Love it
