B.B. King deserves the title of “King of the Blues.” Photo courtesy of Wikipedia.org

I decided it’s been too long since I featured the king here at Blues Guitar Unleashed. And when you’re talking about the king, then there better be more than enough music to check out. So I’m going out on a limb and putting four videos in this post today. I don’t usually share that many, but since there’s so much to choose from why not go a little overboard. B.B. King has been a blues and cultural icon for years and rightfully so; he’s been able to spread the blues to one of the biggest international audiences ever. His fan club stretches further than the eye can see. So I collected a few memorable performances featuring the king of the blues, in different stages of life. I hope you enjoy the videos as much as I did!

Let’s get right into it. The first performance features “Let The Good Times Roll” from a live show in Italy 1989. Check it out at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYB5vLzEHvI.

Next, we travel back to 1974 to hear a groovy version of “Why I Sing The Blues” during the tour Live in Africa 1974. Enjoy it now at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOnzDKvn7YI.

One of King’s classic recordings was “Story Monday.” Hear a slammin’ version of the tune at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVGu0visDbE.

Lastly, I wanted to end with this stellar performance of “Blues Boys Tune” from one of his shows on PBS. Check it out at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Ny5ajCn0xw.

That’s a whole lotta B.B. King, and I hope you dug it all as much as I did. There’s more coming your way here at Blues Guitar Unleashed so stay tuned for more from some of the biggest names in the blues.

Thanks,

Griff

“Blues Boys Tune” is the most awesome guitar solo. Not the fastest, not the loudest. But surely the most soulful thing to drip from a guitar player’s fingers.
