Tommy Emmanuel delivers a raw and energetic style of guitar playing whether he is playing the blues or classical music. Photo courtesy of Wikipedia.org

Not many guitarists play with quite as much energy as Tommy Emmanuel does on stage.  If you aren’t familiar with Tommy, then I feel like you’re in for a treat with this post.  He is a very talented guitarist from Australia that incorporates finger picking, fast playing, and many percussive techniques in his playing.  Tommy puts on a great show with classical music, African rhythms, jazz, folk and the blues.  And since this is Blues Guitar Unleashed, we better focus on the blues part of Tommy’s show.  I came across a crowd video with killer audio and video that features a performance with Tommy.  He runs through a 12 bar blues called “Guitar Boogie” and a slower blues tune called “Stevie’s Blues.”  I hope you enjoy the video as much as I did!

Tommy Emmanuel delivers an energetic rendition of the blues in this video below.  If you ever get the chance to see him live, I would definitely encourage you to see it.  Check out this pumped up blues guitar jam at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQhECkexmSI.

I hope you enjoyed this performance from Tommy Emmanuel.  Like the rest of his show, Tommy brings a raw energy to his blues performance that comes across well on stage.

Thanks,

Griff

I been doing music all my life, Trombone, dixieland, first time I’ve heard Tommy, he is a great talent.

Ain’t no doubt about it. Chet bestowed upon Tommy the coveted title CGP.

Check out Tommy and Thom Bresh. Thom is Merle Travis’ son….the one that Travis picking is named for.

Mr. Emmanuel visited Iceland in January this year, and for sure I went to his concert. The concert was smashing and awesome. His version of this E 12 bar blues is a technical masterpiece, but at the same time lacking kind of a feelin´ to it. But it´s for real and that´s what matters. Thanks Griff.

Wow, my first time seeing shred’en on an acoustic. That style reminds me of the ole jip joint sound when the place let loose. Back in the day, you understand.

This guy has more fun than any other guitar player I have ever seen. He is by far my favorite all around guitar player. I have seen him three time lives, and taken one class with him. He is a great guy. Thank Griff for putting this up for all to see.
