The great guitarist, Doc Watson, has become one of the best musicians and American music historians to play the guitar. Watson is an avid flat picker and finger picker, performing with some of the best American folk and blues musicians in the music industry. I wanted to share some of Doc Watson’s music with you by collecting a few video performances that he is featured on. I hope you enjoy these performances as much as I have!
The first video features Doc Watson with his late son, Merle Watson, and their rendition of the classic song, “Summertime.” Enjoy the performance at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kNYHJIr0ur4&feature=related.

Although Doc Watson lost his sight at a young age, it hasn’t kept him from playing good music for all the world to share. I hope you enjoyed this feature about the great American guitarist, Doc Watson.

RIP, Doc.
Merle Watson died several (quite a few) years ago in a farming accident. He was working a field on a tractor and the machine got unbalanced, tipped over and trapped Merle underneath. He was crushed.
What did happen to Merle Watson? I had no idea he had passed on, may he rest in peace.
