Got another lick for you today in the style of my 5 Easy Classic Rock Solos which is available now and already quite popular after yesterday’s announcement!
You can check it out and grab your copy here at: https://classicrockguitarunleashed.com/get-5-easy-classic-rock-solos/
The previous lick had a bunch of bends, and this one has a rhythmic thing where it’s a melodic pattern of 3, but over a rhythm that divides into 2… so it keeps looping back on itself and sounds great – I promise you’ve heard this a bunch in your life.
TAB is below and on screen.

I got a new computer and now I can’t view these lessons.
Can you view them on YouTube?
Another great and very helpful lesson from Griff
I am one of those who have been playing Guitar for years but still can’t count for crap which I know has affected my soloing for years.
will need to dive into this lesson and suck it up and practice it slowly.
Thanks Griff
Reminds me of the solo in Hotel California which has been stuck, playing on repeat, in my head for about a week straight. It must’ve been in anticipation of this lesson. I should be able to master it since I have no excuse now that it’s stuck up in there… except for that counting thing. (I think the Walsh solo may be tripilet based).
Griff is one of the most empathetic teachers on the Internet. I think it’s because he’s been teaching a long time and knows what students’ problems are going to be before they’ve even thought about them. After I started counting, following Griff’s frequent advice, my playing transformed. Now when I listen to some previous recordings, I’m horrified at some of the incompetent missed or extra beats in the bar, or fills starting a half beat out etc. Never again will a band member shuffle their feet and say, “Maybe just practise the time on this one”.
I might just be able to struggle through counting this one ….hehe
Regarding your timing course. I find I verbalize over the slow and medium speeds but on some of the fast speed examples I just internally count and or just follow the notes or time bars. It works very well as I get to concentrate on the timing but not the verbalization of the timing because at times I cant count that fast out loud.
There will be a point at higher speeds where the verbalization isn’t possible, and that’s the goal, so you did good! For almost everyone, however, the struggle is at the slow to mid speeds.
what speed per minutes. this is a no brainer. i can just count, if i new the speed. 1 and 2 and. i can just do i, 2,3,4,5,6 ect. very easy beat.
