Hi, Just trying to understand the voicing of the C chord. Remembering the order R, 5th, R, 3rd, 5th, R only seems on the E shape of the chord. Is this right? If so why is this especially remembered?

        C and G are both R 3 5 R 3. The R 5 R 3 5 R actually pertains to E, A, and D shapes. So in reality, when it comes to making modifications, there are really only 2 shapes!

Great teaching griff, how get a Cmaj7 on fifth fret G shape, or Cmaj7 on 10th fret D shape

So if we know where all the caged notes are on fret board and what string 1-6 applies to caged shape, is that enough to get us to the basic c a g e d shapes.,??
