Now I was interested in one of the comments made on you tube regarding "Mary Had a little etc " it stated that it was Jimi Hendrix's " Come On" pt 1 so here it is for you to judge for yourselves.

That's interesting. I guess even the great Stevie borrows from the even greater Jimi. Of course, after the beginning riff, it all changes.

Well to me it doesn't sound anything the Mary Had a Little Lamb, but it does sound just like SRV doing Come On Part 3. (probably because it's the same song)

So could Jimi have used Buddy's riff in "Come On" or did Buddy borrow Jimi's riff or as I suspect the riff goes further - way further - back than that.

Buddy has been quoted in a recent Guitar Player magazine as a major influence on Jimi "If Jimi were here, he'd tell you he got his stuff from me"  (or something close to that)

Having seen Buddy play, I tend to believe him.

And of course, Buddy was a part of SRV life - along with Albert King, to name another big influence on both Jimi and SRV (and Clapton, and....)

It's all good!   Buddy got all his stuff from Muddy, T-bone, Guitar Slim, etc, etc... :p

Buddy is good but he does come across as someone who has "tickets" on himself.I think if Jimi where alive he would say " Buddy who..?"

"There is film of Jimi Hendrix, taking in a Buddy Guy performance stageside, looking as if he was at worship rather than sitting in a club"
