Checked the sticky topics, and chased after vst - but I have no idea what i'm doing and I don't want to spend hours trying to finger this out....

google searches aren't helping...

Just fire up Audacity and hit the record button.
You can also drag a backing track into Audacity.
Hit record and a new track will fire up  under the backing track.

with headphones it sounds awesome - just not picking up any sound via audacity...

how do you tell audacity to use it as input???`

Ok so that's eliminated.
It's probably just a setting in Audacity you need to change.
I'm thinking....
The good news is there's plenty of Audacity experts here.
In audacity click on edit ..preferences

The UX's with Pod Farm is the best gear bang for the buck ever.
I would replace mine in a heartbeat if something ever went wrong with it.

UX2 with Podfarm is the best.  The variety & quality of the tones you can get from it is unbelievable.

Thanks for the post Wayne ( loved the demo track by the way).
I have been thinking of buying  Pod Studio UX2 as all the reviews I've read have been very positive but it had crossed my mind about how to get stuff from UX2 onto the computer to Audacity. I think your question and stratogeezers' answer have solved that problem.

Thanks

Steve

Yeah - Line 6 did engineer it so that it could be used by virtually any recording software you could want, or output to any recording device you could want.  Very flexible.

And thanks - that's my favorite thing to do:  Blues in E, which I embellish and play around with.
