I built one very similar to that a few years ago. I seem to remember paying something over $100, so that is a pretty good price. For a first-time learning experience, it turned out better than I would have expected, although I really need to go back to it one of these days and give it a better finish than my first attempt. It was definitely fun.

The pics show a neck plate for a bolt-on neck, and then the pics of completed guitars don't have it. What's up?

There is a neck plate in the pics but the body and neck are not a bolt-on style. No idea why it's there, it's not needed

Mine actually did have a bolt on neck. I'm guessing that the "after" pictures arent of the kit.

The only place that neck plate shows up is in the "parts" picture (where it looks like it was drawn in) and the neck and body are definitely "glue-in".
