I love getting new ways to practice. Before I started with your courses and videos I would always say “I play guitar, but I stink”! I don’t say that anymore. I know I’m getting better.
I thank you for my progress.
Wow – Never commented before Griff. Thank you so much for this free gift. Chris Hughes
PS: I have several of your Acoustic Blues courses (I pretty much own Mr. Johnson’s Blues). If you have other places I can go for good “Delta” blues lessons, please let me know.
Listen to all your emails. Appreciate
The info. I view it on my android.
Mostly practice in my head with you.
Working on my timing has been very
Helpful . Work a lot of things out in my head.just watching.of all different. Guitar lessons from internet. Yours is the one I get info from.can I order things that will
Work just from my android. I’ve been
Playing for 60 yrs . Have written approx 30 songs. Great guitar songs
Possibly you would like to hear. Maybe you would like to record.or just jam on.i know thats kinda forward on my end.but I have nothing to loose.just love playing
OMD Well I can safely say I was lost almost from the get go, I couldn’t even clap, so was probably pointless picking up the guitar. Is this a noob saying this, no I’ve been playing for over 50yrs & just went over my head. Now I’ve been using Griffs courses for years BGU, Rock guitar unleashed & stacks of other courses so I value Griffs teaching on many levels. I freely acknowledge that counting has always been an issue & potentially prevented my playing from achieving its true potential, but found the rhythms figures mind numbing. It might be my attention span so I will endeavour to persevere & go back over the demo video
As comments show every ” counting” video, it’s an issue for many. Something I’ve found helpful has been Toontracks EZdrummer2. Every aspect of drumming, ie:timing to laying down backing tracks to importing MIDI. At it’s simplest it has taught me how to count subconsciously. Something else I discovered by accident is that Griff’s programs are completely compatible and will play right in the application. Really cool to be able to download right into the program. Thanks Griff.
Hi Griff; Currently I’m talking your blues coarse, which is great BTW. It has helped with rock/blues and ballads. The counting /timing has really helped my playing to the point I start counting on auto (you’re on my shoulder whispering Jim count – stay in rhythm). I play the bass sometimes w/o drums. I have to be right in time. You helped with that too. Thanks really like the videos you send out Thanks
I just bought Rhythm Figures for Blues Lead Guitar yesterday but I still haven’t got any login details for the BGU website, so I can’t access the course. The helpdesk isn’t really helping (tell me to use the forgot password option but I’ve never had one). I might need to ask for my money back.
You may want to check to make sure that your email with login didn’t end up in a spam or junk folder. You can ask the help desk to re send ithe email and see what they suggest.
Brilliant Griff, just what I need….as daft as it sounds I thought sub-divisions were placed randomly, never knew the ‘ 1 and ‘ were attached to the quarter note and the ‘ uh ‘ to the eight note!! (hope I got that right and someone corrects me if I’m wrong) Makes more sense now lol
It was easy for me until I got to the rhythm figure beginning at 25:45 (where the first note is struck on the AND of 2).
You know what Griff? This has always been a point at which I had troubles but it isn’t until right now, going through this exercise, that I figured out where I have been leaving the reservation. I probably have trouble with the AND of 1 too, but I didn’t while doing this exercise.
Going through your courses, while learning solos, this is almost always an issue for me. It’s a point where it takes a long time to learn that lick or whatever.
I can see where having this skill set as almost second nature could make it much easier (and faster) to learn new material.
I grew up learning how to count time in music class in elementary school (late 60s early 70s) before I ever picked up an instrument. Learning how to count time back then stuck with me and it’s kind of a life long habit of mine to just jump into the middle of a song and count the time while listening to a song.
Even with counting time being in my background, the more advanced/complicated rhythm figures take me a long time to learn. Investing in honing my timing skills will be the next thing I do on my guitar journey.
One of those people who comment on Beginning Blues Guitar course. found it difficult to count and play beginning about Exercise 12 – 20.This really helps me thanks!
Extremely clear and well presented. Timing is the least developed of my skills. Your practice format should provide a method of cementing this very necessary skill! Thank you, have enjoyed and benefited from many of your courses thus far.
I own all the courses you have put on CD, DVD and printed manuals.
I don’t have good internet access.
You are the best teacher ever.
Loved this lesson as I have played many years but know my rhythm needs work.
I spoke to soon! Forgive me! This course comes with CDs, printed manual and Data DVD.
I appreciate that immensely!
Yes, I am one of those who wants to hear the course go thump on my porch as my internet connection is poor.
Thank you!
Counting the beats is the weakest point of my playing. I have a good ear for timing but to sit down and count it out like this, I can not do very well. Great Lesson and a big help!
Good lesson. Your comments at the beginning of the video stressing the importance of the rhythm of the notes vs the exact notes themselves described exactly where my focus has been.
The “House” pattern is most successfully built on a good foundation…

I download almost every one of your lessons and keep them. I value them that much. Thanks.

Hello,
I have tried to download the free video and jam tracks but it didn’t work.
Is there any chance I can get another link for downloading them?
Thank you!,
You are amazing!

Interesting video. Really helps to have an understanding of how the beet works. Thank you I will be looking forward tomorrow

Since I can’t edit, this reply is meant to correct my post. I meant the UH of 2 (not the AND of 2)

Man, good lesson, counting is fundamental. Thanks, we all need the reinforcement and the reminder.
The scale on top would be one and e not one and a .eight note and sixteeth. ?
It makes sense to me now; I feel I’m getting better, my sound is coming into my own! Thank you so so much.
