Great example, I love the double stops and turn arounds. I’ve got a buddy coming over with a harmonica later and we’ll be watching the sun go down and have a couple of cold ones. Yea!

  2. Great lesson, learning loads , many thanks from Lil old England.

  3. Eric says:

  4. Loved the lesson. Thanks

  5. Joe D says:

VERY cool. I’ve always known I’ve “had the Blues in me”. I knew a little piece of info here, another little bit of theory there, but nothing to really put it together; the ‘light-bulb moment’, if you will. This turned on the lights, man!

  6. Geoff Clegg says:

Absolutely great stuff – great video & lesson to kick start you again when you reach that plateau & you’re stuck – just get back to basics & play the Blues – Thanks Griff!!!

  7. Tommy Ryan says:

Brilliant demo Griff easy to get your head around thank you.

  8. Barney says:

Great lesson Griff, I really enjoyed it. As a beginner, it has helped ’join up the dots’.
    Keep up the great work.
    Thank you.

  9. Thanks for this, if I can get this down.. I’ll get your course! Have others courses but this lesson really made sense for me..off to practice this! Really like your teaching style and you were referred by a friend that has learned from you and now playing out!

  10. Fred Brown says:

Great lesson! I’m an old time 1958 rock and roll rhythm player. I’m trying to switch over to some leads and solos with the blues! This lesson is getting me off in the right direction! Thanks Griff, looking forward to your next video!

Go for it friend. I started in 1965 been practicing and playing ever since. Now that I’m older I’ve lost some of my dexterity. I’m bound and determined to get it back. Good luck to you in learning your leads.

  11. Keith says:

Very helpful! This is the kind of thing I’ve been looking for. Thank you

  12. John says:

Is this lesson in one of your premium lessons?

  13. Mtnbilly says:

No one to play with so these solo things are just what I need.

  14. J. Michael says:

Nice! Great to just sit around and “practice” without it feeling boringly repetitive.

  15. Vaughn says:

Good stuff! I’ve played a long time, by no means a beginner, but I very much enjoy watching these vids; you have great presentation, and much to my surprise I’ve picked up a few things, sometimes just slightly different ways of looking at things, but it’s very refreshing! Thanks…

  16. Jim P. says:

Thank you. Great lesson. Relatively easy to learn. I especially like how you presented the “mix and match” options that allow you to play all kinds of different songs with these chords and licks. Would you give a lesson on how to transfer this into another key like A using position 1 of the minor pentatonic scale?

  17. Luis says:

Thanks a lot for such a well explained lesson, you’re a great teacher.

  18. Jose Razo says:

Great material, lesson but the way that you present and teach the material really takes it to another level.

  19. Bob Manseau says:

Could you do a video on string gauges you use on your electric and acoustic guitars?

  20. Gary French says:

I am working on your “Beginning Blues Guitar” course, but also enjoy the short lessons like this one, which was very easy to follow.

  21. Dave T says:

Another great lesson. Easy to follow, and specific as you said. I need to revisit the playing on the porch set. One question I’ve had for a while. When you say a note is the 2nd or 3rd of the scale, does that mean of the major scale?

  22. Thomas Guitarman says:

great lesson actually it never hurts to revisit fundamentals and learn something you may have missed or did not really understand

  23. Dick Spindler says:

    Great refresher, Griff. Thanks!

  24. Steve says:

Wow! Thanks Griff. I so like watching your videos – you’re making me a better player. Please keep it up!

  27. Joe says:

Playing the same lick over the entire 12 bars is brilliant ! Common sense I know but I just never thought of it that way

  28. David Joiner says:

Diggin’ the licks and the King Louie Disney shirt!

  29. Nuno pimpão says:

    great licks. thank you

  30. Well this is the course I missed getting last time and this example sealed it for me. Although I’m still in the middle of the acoustic blues unleashed and house patterns they all go together so it’s not like I’m just flitting from one course to another but just mixing it up so it keeps it all exciting and fresh for me. I am so pumped because after only a few months of practicing almost everyday I’m finally seeing and hearing results thanks to your great teaching style (the counting ) and materials and the jam tracks. I have utilized them for the first time and starting to hear the changes. (House pattern course is helping me with that too) . It’s taken me longer to get thru the courses because I’m finally waiting to move on until I have it really under my fingers. And for the first time in over 40 years of mostly open position playing in retaining and getting it. !! Thank you
