    Great stuff, Griff !!!
    Many Thanks

  2. Tony says:

First, this example of keeping the groove cooking is well explained and demonstrated. Gives an appreciation for the rhythm guitar player’s contribution to the band. Something to think about. Second, having you sing adds a lot to understanding how NOT to step on the singer. The singing helps understand how to apply the call and response idea. A really complete package of the video’s intent in not a lot of time.

I did enjoy this video, just as i enjoy so many of yours
    You are the best

Love this, Griff. So many useful hints and tips. I hope the course is going to be downloadable ’cause shipping price to the UK is silly 🙂

  5. Ben says:

Griff: Can begin to tell you how much I appreciate the free lessons. Being retired and at t he mercy of the FEDS free-bies are really appreciated. Is there anywhere I can get the download for the 4 note solo. I have the tab but can’t find the clip. Thanks again.

  6. Stevie Reye Zee says:

Thanks for these lessons Grif. You keep it very manageable for less gifted players with room to improve. I really like Progressive Blues but my skills don’t match what I like to listen too. Learning straight blues will greatly benefit me. I really need to learn the 2 note chordings as I tend to play mostly full chords.
    Keep Rockin’

SRZ [ This will be my new persona, 🙂 ]

  7. Very very cool.
    NOW you’re teaching me something.
I’ve been playing for a lot of years and now I’ve got
    Something new to play with.
I guess I’ve been stuck, Not anymore.
    Thanks Griff.
    Jim

  8. Jerry says:

SUPER SUPER lesson…I have been having a hard time with playing licks and rhythm together and this is the best presentation on doing it that I’ve seen …THANKS!
I can’t wait to try it… almost forgot the counting really helped

  9. David Coe says:

That’s some slick stuff,Ive been playing for years and never thought about the doubles on the rhythm and lead it saves a lotta work. Thanks my friend. David

  10. a great demonstration /practical playing . calvin

  11. Chuck says:

Wow! Now I can’t wait for the new course to come out! This is pretty important to where I want to be with my playing and as usual, you come through with something that takes me where I need to go!

    Thanks Griff!

  12. Rolla says:

Great Licks! The Blues cord applications are inspiring. Thank You.

  13. Bill45 says:

Wow! Adding the bass note on beat one really helps solidify the 2 note chord rhythm on the ‘and’ of 1 and beat 3. More licks to learn too! You’re helping me prep for starting to create my own licks. I need to quicken my pace to get thru BGU so I can focus on this new material!

  14. Dan Huffman says:

    Another very cool lesson
    Thanks Griff

  15. Greg Virostko says:

    Griff,
I’ve been playing for over 45 years and at times I get in a rut, I have a tendency to over think things, your videos help me keep things in perspective. One thing that crosses my mind from time to time watching you play, what gauge and brand of strings do you use, for years I’ve used Dean Markel10s for the beefy sound but they were obviously difficult to bend then I went the other extreme and tried Ernie Ball 8s which were really easy for bending but lacked low end, long story short I ended up with D’Addariro XL 9s. I’m a light player, I don’t beat on the guitar but at times I do play aggressively I watch your playing and observe your touch, to me this is a topic you might want to touch on.

Thanks for the instructions, they are appreciated even from a 60’s/70s rocker who had to learn everything the hard way ie: Mel Bay, no videos, no teachers other than guitar lessons which were a waste by teachers that had no clue about blues or rock, on instruments that were very poor quality unless you had a lot of money and knew something about instrument quality. Players today have so much available to them, over my years I’ve learned much more from your “Blues Guitar Unleashed” and these simple video’s, please keep it up.

    Thanks so much,
    Greg

Griff, this is exactly what I’ve been looking to do. Thanks for making it so nice and clear.
By the way, with just a little practice, I was already able to use the lessons from the first video at an open mic jam this past week! I was amazed at how easy it was and how good it sounded.
Can’t wait for the full course!!

  17. Jimmy m says:

Really enjoyed, great stuff you make it look so easy. Wish I had the drive to make myself sit down and practice. I am 67 years old so I had better hurry.lol

  18. Steve L says:

Outstanding instructions and tips. I’ve been playing forever, but I still get a valuable bit of performance advice with every one of your videos. Thanks!

  19. Sam says:

    Thanks Griff,
This is huge help!! Keep up the great work!
    Happy Easter!

  20. BoB Alley says:

Darn you Griff. Do you have any idea how long it takes to follow your U Tube page and watch all the videos you have there of you and the band. Perfect examples of what you are getting at, but wish there was more music. The only benefit of hearing Pride and Joy, etc over and over was the different axes and variations on the solos. I really enjoyed the open jam. Can’t wait to tie it all in.

    Thanks,

    BoB

ps, have you ever thought about coming to Florida for a visit?

  21. Dave says:

    Thanks
Trying to learn this stuff, very helpful

  22. June O'Reilly says:

thanks for making it truly simple..
and of course once again I love your teaching style

  23. Jimmy U says:

this was very practical and well taught!!! I have been trying to grow as rhythm guitar player and even after 40 years of enjoying guitar, it is practical lessons that help me get out of the rut. Trying very hard to learn how to play improvisation blues and you are the guy that has gotten me to a closer to that goal than any other. Thanks again!! I will keep looking for more from you in the future! Jim

  24. Having fun AND learning something at the same time. Very nice-good job, Griff

  25. ray smith says:

You rock Griff. I’ve been following your free vids for about 4 years and will soon be coming on board for the full cruise. Tanks for all the free woo hoo!

  26. Dean says:

    Thank you
The little things that make the blues
PS how can I get a replacement for my
    little Wing DVD

  27. Charles says:

    Thanks Griff,

The videos are gems: The rythms and licks sound great, are very practical, imminently useable and FUN. I can’t wait to sit down with the guitar and try them out. These lessons are mcuh more valuable than learning dozens of killer licks that may sound awesome in the context of a specific song, but are pretty pointless when you are playing on your own. I tend to forget them almost immediately I can use all of these tips immediately, either on my own or with the band and that is what makes them so useful.

Happy Easter to you Griff, your family, students and fans!
    Charles..

  28. barrelhse says:

More great lessons- thanks for all your time and effort, you are greatly appreciated.

  29. Steven Black says:

This is awesome , a couple months back I sent an email basically asking you to perhaps do a thing on singing and playing.

This is an awesome introduction to what I was requesting ,

I do hope you have a couple more with playing and lyrics together.

” keep calm and play the blues ”

    Sincerely

  30. Peter says:

    Thanks Griff
The other day you talked about not having a metradome. Well I was learning to play your teachings and found my leg going up and down and my body in synk with the
rythm that I must naturaly have! Body rythm (I HAVE IT) And I’m not bad at singing. You have taken a bad cold winter and made it very special and fun for me and I got my first guitar at the begining of the winter and am following you closly. ONE thing =What to name the guitar that got me through the worst winter ever in the North East of BOSTON! And put me in the place to find my best pastime playing guitar. The WINTER of 2014 I think I will name my guitar (Miss. Winter) Any suggestions for naming my guitar???
    Peter

  42. Duane says:

I’ve been “playing” the guitar since I was a teenager, but only for me and anyone else who wanted to sing along. I’ve had a lot of fun over the years and I’m 60 now! BUT, my biggest regret is that I never had someone show me how to make the guitar talk! I am a retired educator and school principal and have had to evaluate many teachers over the years. Griff, you have that special gift that I wish I could have given to many of my colleagues! BIG thanks from this Canadian heart!

  43. mike zeoli says:

Griff,I am really loving these lessons. I am not a good singer, but I do sing along when I play. This exercise really helps me. Thanks,Mike

  47. Ian Robins says:

Griff, this is really cool. Thanks so much for these little tips. They color the music so much. I have the feel, just didn’t have the little bits and pieces that make it sound so good. I really take to heart what you mean about “more is less”. This stuff is so easy to play and so interesting. Thanks again.

  48. Robbie Rua says:
