“Discover How Easy And Fun It Can Be To Jam The Blues, By Yourself, On Your Guitar…”
With just a handful of great licks and these 5 solo jamming “frameworks,” you can be creating your own blues music for yourself in a matter of just a few hours…
Have you ever walked into a music store, or a coffee shop, and heard someone playing some blues…
And thought, “Wow, that sounds great?”
Maybe, you’ve had the chance to talk to that person, only to discover that the blues song you heard wasn’t a “song,” at all…
And when that person says, “Oh, I was just playing some blues, it wasn’t anything,” it just made everything seem more mysterious to you than ever before.
I know because I used to be that guy too… I would walk into the music store and hear someone play and I’d ask, “what song was that?” Hoping I could then try and go learn it.
But pretty soon I realized that most of those guitar players I spoke with were literally just making it up as they went along.
Over the years, of course, I learned all the bits and pieces of what they were doing… but it took a lot of years to put it all together.
Fortunately, as a guitar teacher I’ve had to pass this along to my students for the last 30 years and change…
So I’ve learned how to not only play this way, but to teach the methods as well.
As it turns out, there are a few common threads between most all of the different players I have heard throughout my life…
And I’ve put those common ideas together into a complete system that you can use to be able to jam, all by yourself, on your guitar.
That System, Is This…
How To Jam The Blues Alone On Your Guitar is just what it sounds like… to get you able to just sit down and play, by yourself, with no band, and sound like you know exactly what you’re doing the whole time.
By combining classic, tried-and-true blues licks, with classic blues rhythms, you can keep the music flowing chorus after chorus – as long as you want to play.
Here’s how (and why) my How To Jam The Blues Alone system works:
You probably have played, and maybe even memorized, some great blues licks in your playing career, but you need licks that are exactly the right length – they have to fit in between your groove elements – in How To Jam The Blues Alone you’ll find dozens of options. Think of it as an encyclopedia of solo acoustic blues licks that you can come back to for years to come… any time you need something new and fresh to play.
You’ll want to start with just one lick, choose any one of the 49 from Section 1 of the course, then use that lick to play the “groove” from Section 2, along with any one of the 5 different turnarounds… and you’ve got yourself a song.
Add in another lick, and you’ve got some variations. By the time you’ve got half a dozen of them under your belt, you’ll rarely repeat yourself and it’s doubtful anyone listening would even notice.
But that’s just the first 2 sections… over the course of the last 8 sections you’ll get 40 more licks (that can usually be broken in half as needed – you’ll see what I mean) and 4 more “grooves” to work with as well.
None of the grooves are difficult, you can probably play some of them now, if you knew how they worked – but I’ll still walk you through them, and all the licks, note for note and beat for beat.
At the end of each groove lesson, I’ll show you a demonstration of me playing the groove along with every single lick for that section. That’s 5 complete demonstrations, each 5 choruses long, complete with the moving tab on screen and in the manual so you can follow right along and see exactly how it’s done.
It’s extremely straight forward and lends itself to playing music right away, then adding more as you get comfortable with each new lick or groove.
But There’s More To It That Solo Playing…
A lot of us sort of misuse the term “acoustic” to mean “solo,” as in, by yourself. We’re used to hearing solo guitar played on acoustic guitar so it tends to get called acoustic blues…
But the reality is that playing solo is different than playing in a band – whether it’s on electric or acoustic guitar…
So, while I taught the course on acoustic, feel free to play it on electric, it’ll sound just as great!
Plus, none of the licks start on beat 1, (because you’re not supposed to start blues licks on beat 1) which means they work just as well if you are playing with a band as they do when you’re not.
In fact, you can use these licks to construct a complete electric/band solo just as easily as you used them to jam by yourself.
In addition, you’ll improve your ability to hear and feel your way through a 12 bar blues… which makes it so you don’t get lost when you solo with a band as well.
Plus, since no one else is keeping time for you, you have to do it… which means that this style of playing improves darn near the most important skill on the planet, counting and timing.
So like I said, there’s a lot more to this course than just playing some blues. Here are just some of the things you’re getting…
- A virtual encyclopedia of 49, one-bar blues licks that can be used by themselves, or coupled with other one-bar licks to create more two-bar licks than I can calculate (math is not an exact science, you know…)
- An additional 40, two-bar licks that can be used as-is, or broken into even more one-bar licks (as if you’ll ever need that many – I’m not sure I know that many licks.)
- 5 different “grooves” that you can use right out of the course, or modify to suit your technique or preferences. I walk you through every single groove so that you know where the notes are coming from and why, if you want to make changes, I encourage it.
- Practicing strategies and how to assimilate the licks into your playing. I spend time on every single lesson and section talking about how to learn the licks (one at a time) and how to start incorporating them with the groove right away. It’s a very simple process that makes sense and is easy to follow.
- Demonstrations of the 5 grooves alone with all of the licks from that section. That’s 5 complete demonstrations of 5 full choruses each… and I just made those up, just like you will be able to do.
- Complete transcriptions of every single note, chord, lick, and groove. Nothing is left to chance.
- Gobs of alternate chord ideas, or alternate fingerings in case what I’ve done just doesn’t work for you. Don’t know a 13 chord? Fine, I’ll give you at least 2 or 3 other options, and you’re bound to know one of them already. (And you can learn the 13 chord because they are fun.)
And of course, there is more besides, but I think you get the idea.
