Finally... A Complete Country Guitar Course That Teaches You Everything From Classic Cowboy Chords to Red-Hot Chicken-Pickin' Solos

Even if you've never played a country lick in your life, you can master the techniques, rhythms, and soloing secrets that'll have you ready for the bandstand, the jam session, or just playing along with your favorite country records

Dear Fellow Guitar Player,

If you've ever wanted to play country guitar but didn't know where to start...

If you've ever heard those lightning-fast country licks on the radio and wondered "how do they DO that?"...

Or if you're a blues or rock player who wants to expand your skills and understand how to chase chords like the pros do...

Then this might be the most important letter you read this year.

My name is Griff Hamlin, and I've been teaching guitar for 38 years. I'm probably best known as a "blues guy" - and that's true. But what a lot of people don't know is that I've been playing country gigs professionally for over 25 years.

I've been part of at least a handful of different country bands over the years. And while I might not be the next Brent Mason or Brad Paisley, I can certainly hold my own with most players... and I can most definitely teach you everything you need to know to play really solid country guitar.

And that's exactly what Country Guitar Unleashed is designed to do.

The Problem Most Guitar Players Face When Learning Country

Here's what I've noticed over nearly four decades of teaching...

Most guitar players who want to learn country run into the same frustrating problems:

They try to learn from scattered YouTube videos - one lesson on chicken pickin', another on Travis picking, maybe a lick here or there - but nothing connects. They end up with a bunch of random techniques that don't fit together into actual music.

They get overwhelmed by all the choices - Should I learn this style or that one? This technique or that one? What should I practice today? Decision fatigue sets in, and they end up practicing nothing at all.

They learn the notes but can't make it sound right - Something's off. The timing isn't quite there. It doesn't have that authentic country feel, and they can't figure out why.

They assume country is "too simple" or "too complicated" - Blues and rock players especially think country is either beneath them or impossibly technical. The truth? It's neither. It's just different ... and once you understand the approach, it opens up a whole new world.

Does any of this sound familiar?

If so, you're not alone. And more importantly, none of this is your fault.

Why Country Guitar Is Actually EASIER Than You Think (Once You Know The System)

Here's something that might surprise you...

Country guitar isn't harder than blues or rock. It's just organized differently.

In blues and rock, you can often get away with staying in one scale position and playing the same licks over different chords. That works fine for those styles.

But country guitar teaches you something incredibly valuable: how to follow the chords .

This skill - what I call "chord chasing" - is what separates players who sound like they're just noodling around from players who sound like they know exactly what they're doing.

And here's the beautiful part:

Once you learn to chase chords in country music, you can take that skill back to your blues and rock playing and sound ten times better.

That's why so many blues and rock players find that learning country actually makes them better at the styles they already play.

My Story: How Country Guitar Saved My Guitar Playing

Let me tell you how I got serious about country guitar...

Back in the mid-1990s, I was playing in different bands and trying to make a living as a musician. But popular music at the time had become very basic and simple...

After the late 1980s - when radio was full of amazing guitar players with

dizzying licks and crazy chops - the early 1990s saw guitar solos largely disappear from popular music. There just wasn't much for guitar players to do, and honestly, it wasn't very interesting to me.

But then I started noticing something...

Country music at that time was full of guitar players who could REALLY play. They were playing interesting, challenging stuff. Real guitar work that required skill and technique.

So I started digging into it. Not because I was a huge country fan at the time, but because it was the only place where guitar players were still getting to do interesting things.

That decision changed everything.

By the early 2000s, I was playing in country bands regularly. It became a great way to get more gigs and play full-time, which I did for many years.

Today, I don't play full-time anymore, but I still play 2-3 nights a week. And since I moved to Texas five years ago, those country gigs have become even more plentiful.

As they say: You can't live in Texas and not play country.

Over those 25+ years of country gigging, I've learned what works, what doesn't, and most importantly - how to teach it in a way that makes sense and gets results.

What Makes Country Guitar Unleashed Different From Every Other Country Guitar Course

I'm going to be straight with you...

There are other country guitar courses out there. Some of them are probably pretty good.

But Country Guitar Unleashed is different in four critical ways:

1. This Is The ONLY Country Guitar Course Built On A Proven Counting And Timing System

Here's something that might shock you:

The #1 reason guitar players struggle isn't because they don't know enough chords or scales. It's because they can't keep time.

Every other instrument on the planet - piano, drums, bass, horns, you name it - teaches students to count and subdivide beats from day one.

But guitar teachers? Most of them skip right over it.

I learned this lesson decades ago when I was teaching 60 to 80 private students every week, 30 minutes each.

I'd ask a student to play what we'd worked on the previous week. About 90% of the time, they'd make a mistake.

So I'd say: "Do that again, but count it out loud so I know where you think you are."

And here's what happened 99.9% of the time:

When they counted out loud while playing, they didn't make the same mistake.

The counting fixed it. Every. Single. Time.

That experience - repeated hundreds of times over the years - taught me something crucial:

If you can't hear your own voice counting, it doesn't work. You can't count in your head. It's got to be OUT LOUD.

Now, I know what you might be thinking: "I've tried counting before and it didn't work for me."

Here's the truth: It didn't work because you didn't go slow enough, or you gave up before it had time to take hold.

In 38 years of teaching, I've never had a student who followed my counting instructions fail. Not one.

The only students who struggle are the ones who give up on doing it the way I tell them to do it because it didn't work on day one.

But here's what happens when you stick with it:

Once the counting takes hold - and it will - you'll wonder how you ever played any other way. Your timing will be solid. Your rhythm will be locked in. And everything you play will sound more professional, more confident, and more musical.

This is the foundation of everything in Country Guitar Unleashed.

2. This Is A Complete "Soup To Nuts" Course - Everything In One Place

I'm going to let you in on my philosophy...

When I was growing up learning guitar, I owned shelves full of books. I still have audio cassette home study courses from 30 or 40 years ago. I have DVDs, mail-order courses, all of it.

And here's what I learned: I like having everything in one place.

As a learner, I like being able to work on rhythm techniques while also working on solos. I like not having to hunt around for the next lesson or wonder what I should practice today.

You can go on Amazon right now and buy a small, focused course on one specific country technique. Then you'll need another small course for another technique. Then another. And another.

Before you know it, you've spent more than the price of this one course that has it all.

Country Guitar Unleashed gives you everything:

Basic cowboy chords and how to use them
Multiple strumming patterns (straight feel and swing)
The classic "boom-chick" and train beat rhythms
Hybrid picking techniques
All five pentatonic scale positions (both the "boxes" system AND the CAGED system)
Major and minor scales and how to use them
Bending, sliding, and vibrato techniques
9 complete solo examples (broken down into 75+ individual licks)
Over 100 total licks throughout the course
Chord chasing and how to follow changes like a pro
Double stops and harmonized lines
The role of blues in country guitar
How to mix major and minor blues scales
And so much more...

This isn't a course you'll finish in a weekend. Depending on where you are in your playing journey, this could take you a year or more to complete.

And that's actually a good thing.

Because it means you don't have to look around for other lessons. You don't have to wonder what you're going to practice today. You don't have to deal with decision fatigue.

You can just dig into Country Guitar Unleashed, commit to it, and know that you're going to get better. You don't have to look for anything else.

3. You Learn Complete Solos, Not Just Random Licks

Here's another place where most guitar courses get it wrong...

They teach you licks in isolation. A lick here, a lick there. Maybe a cool technique or two.

But they don't teach you how those licks fit together into actual music.

Think about it like learning to speak...

It's not enough to just learn words or phrases. You have to learn how those words and phrases go together to create sentences and paragraphs.

The same is true for guitar solos.

When you learn complete solos, you absorb things that are almost impossible to teach directly:

How to repeat a melodic idea to make it memorable
When to use a lick from the beginning again in the middle because it sounds better
How to move positions so your solo starts lower on the fretboard but ends higher to build excitement
The architecture and flow of a real solo

These are things you can't learn from isolated licks. You have to experience them in context.

That's why Country Guitar Unleashed includes 9 complete solo examples.

Each one is broken down lick by lick in the videos (the smallest has 6 licks, the largest has about 12). So you get the detailed instruction on each piece...

But then you put it all together and play the complete solo. That's where the real learning happens.

And here's something else important...

Sometimes I'll say in the videos: "You may not entirely understand this yet."

That's intentional.

Because here's what I've learned: Sometimes you have to get your fingers making the move and executing it before the full understanding comes.

People think they need to understand something before they can play it. But it's often the case that physical execution comes first, and intellectual understanding follows.

So don't worry if something doesn't make complete sense right away. Just do what I do, say what I say, count what I count... and the understanding will come.

4. You Get The Benefit Of Cross-Genre Expertise

Here's something that actually makes me a BETTER country guitar teacher:

I'm not just a country player.

Yes, I've played country gigs for 25+ years. But I've also:

Played hundreds of blues gigs (I'm known as a "blues guy" after all)
Played hundreds of rock gigs
Studied jazz in college and played jazz gigs
Taught guitar for 38 years across all these styles

Why does this matter?

Because modern country music borrows heavily from blues, rock, and jazz.

Those hybrid picking techniques? They're used extensively in blues, jazz, AND country.

That chord chasing approach? It's used in jazz and blues all the time.

The way we mix major and minor blues scales over dominant 7th chords? That's both blues AND jazz technique applied to country.

If I only knew country, I couldn't teach you these connections. I couldn't show you how the styles overlap and inform each other.

But because I've lived in all these musical worlds, I can show you the complete picture.

And here's a bonus:

Blues and rock players who take this course often find that the country techniques - especially chord chasing and the major/minor blues mixing - make them BETTER at blues and rock.

It's not just about learning country. It's about becoming a more complete guitar player.

★★★★★

"Forcing myself to count for a while. Noticing lately that it is all feeling like it is coming together. Moving between the boxes and changing keys feels so much more natural. Counting makes learning licks (and remembering them) much easier."

This isn't just streaming video that disappears if the internet goes down. You can download the entire course - videos, audio tracks, and PDF manual - directly to your computer and keep it forever.

The 4-Step Learning System That Makes Everything Click

Here's how you'll work through each lesson in Country Guitar Unleashed...

1

Watch Through Once For The Overview

Get the bird's-eye view of what you're going to learn. Sometimes I talk a fair amount to set something up - you only need that explanation once. But if I'm talking, it's for a reason.

2

Grab Your Guitar And Play Along

Watch the lesson again, this time with your guitar in hand. Make timing and counting your primary focus. Play along with me on the slow sections, and count out loud whenever you hear me count out loud.

Don't worry if you don't understand all the notation at first. If you do what I do and say what I say, things will work out just fine. You'll absorb a lot about the notation over time.

3

Listen Everywhere (The Secret Sauce)

This is the step most guitar courses leave out, and it's absolutely critical.

Find the audio track for the lesson you're working on and listen to it... a lot.

Put it on your phone, your tablet, your computer, in your car... everywhere.

When you listen, tap your foot. Tap your fingers. Nod your head. Count out loud if you can.

This might seem like a small thing, but here's why it matters:

When I was growing up - before the internet era - we'd buy an album or cassette and listen to it for months because you had to save up your money or wait for your favorite band to release something new.

We'd listen to our favorite songs over and over and over again.

So when we went to learn those songs or solos, we'd already heard them dozens of times. We knew them internally.

Today, with streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music, I've noticed students come in wanting to learn a song they've only heard once or twice.

And they have a MUCH harder time learning something they don't really know internally.

The listening step solves this problem.

When you listen to the tracks regularly - while tapping and counting along with the pulse of the music - you internalize the beat. You develop that natural "inner clock" that all musicians need to really make music.

This is the secret sauce that makes everything else work better.

4

Own It

It's one thing to memorize the notes. It's another to play them reasonably up to speed without too many mistakes.

But when you "own it," you play it as if you wrote it. You play it easily, without mistakes, and anyone who heard you would swear you wrote it yourself.

Step 4 takes longer than you might think, so don't expect it to happen on each lesson before you move on.

If you get the notes memorized and you can basically play the lesson without too many mistakes - even if it doesn't sound exactly like me yet - that's okay. That's probably as good as it's going to be for a while.

The subtle things that make it sound like you "own it" can take weeks or months to develop.

But I can assure you: When you incorporate listening time into your day, your brain will absorb those little subtleties, and over time they'll come out in your own playing.

What You'll Be Able To Do After Completing Country Guitar Unleashed

When you finish this course, here's what you can expect...

You'll be able to walk into a country jam session and hold your own. No more standing on the sidelines wishing you could join in. You'll know the rhythms, the feels, the techniques, and the chord progressions that make up the foundation of country music.
You'll be ready to play in a country band if you want to. Whether you're looking to gig professionally or just play with friends on the weekend, you'll have the skills and confidence to handle the job.
You'll recognize techniques you hear on country radio and understand how they work. That chicken-pickin' lick? You'll know how to play it. That double-stop run? You've got it. Those fast position shifts during a solo? You'll understand exactly what's happening and how to do it yourself.
You'll be able to "chase chords" like a pro. This is the skill that separates amateur players from professionals. Instead of staying in one scale position and hoping for the best, you'll know how to follow the chord changes and make every note count.
You'll have a massive vocabulary of licks and techniques. With over 100 licks throughout the course, you'll never be at a loss for what to play. And more importantly, you'll understand how to connect those licks into complete, musical solos.
Your timing and rhythm will be rock-solid. Thanks to the counting methodology woven throughout every lesson, you'll develop the kind of internal clock that makes everything you play sound more professional and confident.
If you're a blues or rock player, you'll be better at those styles too. The chord chasing, the major/minor blues mixing, the hybrid picking - all of these techniques will enhance your playing in any genre.
And here's something else...
You'll never have to wonder what to practice next. No more decision fatigue. No more hunting around YouTube for the next lesson. You'll have a clear, comprehensive path from where you are now to where you want to be.

★★★★★

"I've been able to get up with other musicians and somebody call out a song and the type of rhythm and I can assimilate. Or someone puts up a chord chart and I could play right along with it. It's been stellar..."

F. Levitt, Colorado

"But Griff, I'm Not Sure If This Is Right For Me..."

Let me address some concerns you might have...

"I don't have enough time to practice."

I get it. Life is busy. But here's the thing: This course is designed to work at YOUR pace.

If you can practice 15-20 minutes a day, you'll make progress. If you can only practice a few times a week, that's fine too. The course isn't going anywhere.

And remember Step 3 - the listening step? That doesn't require your guitar at all. You can do that while driving, while working out, while doing chores around the house.

Every little bit adds up.

"I'm too old to learn this."

I'm going to be blunt: This is nonsense.

Most of the members in my forum are in their 60s and 70s, and I see them progressing all the time. Some of them are learning guitar for the first time in their lives.

Age is not the issue. Commitment is.

If you're willing to follow the system and put in the practice time, you WILL improve. I've seen it happen hundreds of times.

★★★★★

"The first thing I noticed about Griff is that he is a good teacher... there are a million people on the internet and on YouTube who can play like anything, but they suck at teaching."

A. Goldstein, Arizona

"I've tried counting before and it didn't work for me."

Here's the truth: It didn't work because you either didn't go slow enough, or you gave up before it had time to take hold.

The counting methodology works. Period.

In 38 years of teaching, I've never had a student who followed my counting instructions fail. Not one.

The only students who struggle are the ones who decide it won't work on day one and give up.

But if you stick with it - if you count out loud like I show you, if you go slow enough to let it sink in - it WILL work. And when it does, you'll wonder how you ever played without it.

"I'm not good enough yet."

You don't need to be "good enough." You just need to be able to strum a few chords and play some simple melodies.

If you can do that - even if you're not great at it yet - you're ready for this course.

The whole point is to take you from where you are now to where you want to be. That's what "soup to nuts" means.

"Country guitar seems too complicated."

It's not. It's just different from what you might be used to.

And that's exactly why you need a comprehensive, step-by-step system that shows you how everything fits together.

Random YouTube videos make it seem complicated because nothing connects. But when you have a clear path from Point A to Point B to Point C, it all makes sense.

"What if I play acoustic guitar? Will this work for me?"

Absolutely. Most of the course can be played on acoustic guitar.

There are a few techniques (like some of the bends on the 3rd string) that might be more challenging on acoustic, but I show you workarounds. You can often use a slide instead of a bend, for example.

The techniques, the rhythms, the theory - all of it works on acoustic.

"I don't have a Telecaster. Do I need one?"

Nope. Any guitar will work.

I use a Telecaster in the videos because it's iconic for country music, and many of the greats have played Teles. But you can play everything in this course on a Les Paul, a Stratocaster, a 335, or any other guitar.

All you need is a clean sound. No special gear required.

"What if I get stuck or have questions?"

That's what the Blues Guitar Unleashed Member Forum is for.

You can reach out to me directly, ask questions, get feedback, and connect with other students who are working through the same material.

You're not alone in this journey.

Here's What This Course Is Really Worth

Let's talk about value for a moment...

If you wanted to learn everything in Country Guitar Unleashed through private lessons with me, here's what it would cost:

At a typical rate of $50-75 per half-hour lesson, and assuming you'd need at least 50-60 lessons to cover all this material (probably more), you'd be looking at $2,500 to $4,500 or more.

And that's if you could even find a teacher with this level of experience and this comprehensive of a curriculum.

If you tried to piece this together from books, DVDs, and smaller online courses, you'd easily spend several hundred dollars - and you still wouldn't have everything organized in one clear, progressive system.

But you're not going to pay anywhere near that.

The investment for Country Guitar Unleashed is just $167.

But since the course is brand new, and I’m excited to share it with as many of you as possible, so it’s just $97 during this initial course launch.

One time. That's it.

For that, you get:

26 comprehensive video lessons
9 complete solo examples
Over 100 individual licks
103 professional jam tracks
131-page PDF manual
Lifetime access to the member forum
Downloadable to your computer to keep forever
A complete, soup-to-nuts system that takes you from basic chords to advanced soloing

That works out to less than $6.50 $3.75 per lesson!

You probably spend more than that on coffee.

My 90-Day "Keep It Even If You Return It" Guarantee

Here's the deal...

I'm so confident that Country Guitar Unleashed will transform your playing that I'm willing to make you an offer that's almost crazy:

Try the entire course for 90 days.

Go through the lessons. Practice the techniques. Learn the solos. Put in the work.

If at any point in those 90 days you decide it's not for you - for ANY reason - just let me know and I'll refund every penny.

No questions asked. No hassle. No hard feelings.

And here's the crazy part: You get to KEEP the course.

That's right. Even if you get a refund, you keep the videos, the jam tracks, the PDF manual, everything.

Why would I do this?

Because I know the course works. I know that if you follow the system, you WILL improve. And I know that the only people who'll ask for refunds are the ones who don't actually do the work.

If you're serious about learning country guitar - if you're willing to count out loud, practice regularly, and follow the system - you're not going to want a refund.

You're going to be too busy enjoying your progress.

So you literally have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Two Types Of Guitar Players...

Here's what I've learned after 38 years of teaching:

There are two types of guitar players in this world.

Type 1 collects information. They watch videos, read articles, buy courses, and accumulate knowledge. But they never really commit to one system long enough to see results. They're always looking for the next thing, the magic bullet, the secret shortcut.

They stay stuck at the same level for years.

Type 2 finds a comprehensive system, commits to it, and works through it step by step. They might not progress as fast as they'd like. They might struggle with certain concepts. But they keep showing up, they keep practicing, and they keep moving forward.

And eventually, they break through to the other side.

Which type are you?

If you're Type 1, this course probably isn't for you. You'll buy it, watch a few lessons, get distracted by something else, and never finish it.

But if you're Type 2 - if you're ready to commit to a comprehensive system and see it through - then Country Guitar Unleashed is exactly what you need.

The question is: Are you ready to commit?

"I've been... evolving from the guitar player I thought I wanted to be into something I never thought I could."

One More Thing Before You Decide...

I want to leave you with this thought:

A year from now, you're going to be a year older no matter what you do.

The question is:

What kind of guitar player will you be a year from now?

Will you still be wishing you could play country guitar? Still watching other players at jam sessions and thinking "I wish I could do that"? Still stuck at the same level you are now?

Or will you be the player who can confidently walk into any country situation and hold your own? The player who understands chord chasing, hybrid picking, and all the techniques that make country guitar so much fun? The player who has a massive vocabulary of licks and knows how to use them?

The choice is yours.

But you have to make it now.

Country Guitar Unleashed gives you everything you need - the lessons, the system, the support, and the guarantee.

All you have to do is commit to the journey.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will it take me to complete the course?

It depends on your current skill level and how much time you can practice. For an advanced beginner who can play some chords and basic melodies, expect to spend close to a year or more working through everything. But remember - this is a GOOD thing. It means you have a comprehensive resource you can dig into without having to look for anything else.

Do I need to read music?

No. Everything is taught in the videos with TAB notation. I walk you through everything step by step. If you do what I do and say what I say, you'll be fine. You'll absorb a lot about notation over time just by following along.

What if I'm primarily a blues or rock player?

Then this course is PERFECT for you. The chord chasing skills, the major/minor blues mixing, and the hybrid picking techniques you'll learn will make you better at blues and rock too. Plus, learning country opens up more gigging opportunities.

Can I really download everything?

Yes. The entire course - all videos, all audio tracks, and the PDF manual - can be downloaded directly to your computer. You own it forever.

What if I get stuck or have questions?

You get lifetime access to the Blues Guitar Unleashed Member Forum where you can ask me questions directly, get feedback, and connect with other students.

Is this for beginners?

This is for advanced beginners and up. You should be able to strum a few chords and play some simple melodies. If you can do that, you're ready for this course.

Will this work on acoustic guitar?

Yes. Most of the course works great on acoustic. There are a few techniques (like certain bends) that might be more challenging on acoustic, but I show you workarounds.

What's your refund policy?

You have 90 days to try the course risk-free. If you're not satisfied for any reason, just let me know and I'll refund every penny. And you get to keep the course anyway.

How is this different from your other courses?

This is specifically focused on country guitar from the ground up. While there's some overlap in foundational techniques (like the counting methodology), the rhythms, feels, licks, and approaches are all country-specific.

Do I need any special equipment?

Just a guitar (acoustic or electric) and a clean sound. No special pedals or gear required. I use a Telecaster in the videos, but any guitar will work.
