Finally Learn a Complete Southern Rock Solo — Start to Finish — With Nothing Left Out

You know that feeling...

You find a solo you love. Maybe it's something in the style of the Allman Brothers. Maybe it's that Lynyrd Skynyrd energy that just hits different.

So you go find the tab. Or you pull up YouTube. And you start working on it...

And it sounds pretty good. You get through most of it. 80% of it, maybe.

But then there's that one lick.

The one that's just a little bit too fast. Or a little bit too weird. Or it's got some rhythm thing in it that you can't quite nail down no matter how many times you slow it down.

And eventually... you move on. You tell yourself you'll come back to it.

But you know the truth. You never really finish it.

Here's the thing — and I've seen this with students for almost 40 years now — that missing 20% costs you more than you realize.

Because when you learn a solo all the way through, from the very first note to the very last, something happens in your playing that doesn't happen any other way.

You start to understand how a solo actually works.

Think about it this way...

When your kids were in school, they didn't just learn what words were. At some point, they memorized the Gettysburg Address. Or a famous speech. Not because they needed to know those exact words forever — but because that's how you learn how a speech goes together.

Learning individual licks? Important. Scales? Important. Approaches? All of it matters.

But if you've never played a complete solo, from note one to the final note, along with a real recording — you're missing something. And you probably know it.

That's exactly why I built 5 Easy Southern Rock Solos.

Here's What Makes These Solos Different

When I say easy, I don't just mean slow.

Most people think "easy" means no fast notes. And yeah, nothing in here is faster than an eighth note. But that's not the whole story.

What actually makes these solos hard — what trips people up every single time — isn't finger speed. It's rhythm. It's landing on the wrong subdivision. It's playing the right notes in the wrong place.

Every solo in this course is built so that nothing lands on a weird off-beat subdivision. Everything sits on beats 1 through 4, or right in the middle of a beat. That's it.

Which means for the first time, you can follow along, count out loud —  which I will absolutely make you do  — and actually get all the way through.

No stopping. No "I'll skip that part." All the way through.

The 5 Solos

Solo 1 — In the style of Blue Sky (Allman Brothers)

Melodic, flowing, E major pentatonic. You'll learn how adding just one note from outside the scale can completely change the feel — and why the chords tell you when you're allowed to do it.

Solo 2 — In the style of Gimme Three Steps (Lynyrd Skynyrd)

This one has attitude. We're talking aggressive double stops, pre-bends, and a move I call "Bluzifying the Third" that gives you that gritty, Southern rock edge. You'll also learn chord chasing — adjusting your note choices as the chords move, instead of just parking on one scale.

Solo 3 — In the style of Heard It in a Love Song (Marshall Tucker Band)

The most melodic solo of the bunch. We dip into the full diatonic major scale here, and you'll learn how to use double stops and arpeggios to build a melody that sounds like a song — not just a bunch of licks.

Solo 4 — In the style of Jessica (Allman Brothers)

This one's unique. There are actually two guitar parts  — a melody and a harmony guitar. You'll learn both. This is the closest thing in the course to learning how a full piece of music is constructed, and it's one of the coolest-sounding things you'll learn.

Solo 5 — In the style of Hold On Loosely (38 Special)

This one answers a question I hear constantly: "How do I stop getting stuck in one spot on the neck?"

The progression stays the same all the way through — and that's the point. With no chord changes to lean on and nothing faster than an eighth note, the only way to build the solo is to move. You'll learn how to start in one position, climb up the neck, come back down, and make it feel like a journey — not like you're just running scales. By the time you're done, you'll have been through nearly every position of the major pentatonic scale, and you'll actually understand how they connect.

Pick any of the 5 solos to start — they're designed to stand completely on their own, in any order.

Is This Right For You?

This course is a great fit if...

You can strum some chords together and you're already doing a little lead playing
You've tried to learn Southern rock solos before but always hit a wall somewhere
You want to actually finish something — not just learn 80% of it
You're ready to count out loud, do what I do, say what I say, and trust the process

This is probably not for you if you're a complete beginner who's still working on basic chords. Get those down first — then come back.

"What If I Only End Up Using One or Two of the Solos?"

Fair question. Here's the honest answer.

At $57 $39, this course costs less than a single 30-minute lesson with me. One lesson. And realistically, it would take you three or four lessons to work through even one of these solos with me one-on-one.

So even if you only connect with one solo out of the five — you've already gotten more than your money's worth. Everything else is pure bonus.

And I'd be willing to bet you'll end up wanting more than one. But even if you don't — you're covered.

The 90-Day "Play It All the Way Through" Guarantee

Here's my promise to you.

Get the course. Work through a solo. Count out loud, do what I do, say what I say. If you put in the work and you don't feel like you got your money's worth — any reason, no questions — just let me know within 90 days and you'll get a full refund.

I've been teaching for almost 40 years. In that time, I've never had a student who followed the steps and actually did the work fail to make progress. Not one.

The only people who don't get there are the ones who don't do what I tell them to do.

So if you follow the steps — and I believe you will — you're going to be just fine.
