Who do you wanna play like?

Still seventeen... between the ears
We all have our "idols," those guys we wanna play/sound like.

Here are some of mine, in no particular order:
Buddy Guy
Clapton
John Mayer
Gary Clark Jr.
David Gilmour
Christone "Kingfish" Ingram
Walter Trout
Gary Moore
Kenny Wayne Shepherd
Derek Trucks

So...who's on your list?

Blues Hound Wannabe
In my dreams I'm squeezing every tear out of a few slow, soulful notes as a slow blues grows around me.

So, I'm thinking something like BB King. As if.

Wow, great list! I might add SRV, Robben Ford and Ronnie Earl.

DesmoDog

Desmo was my dog. RIP big guy
My list is huge and the name at the top changes as often as the song on my playlist.

Years ago I went to a blues festival type concert. One of the acts was Buddy Guy. At one point in the evening he started mimicing other artists. I knew even less about guitar then than I do now, but it sounded pretty good to me. Impressive.

As this was going on, someone kept calling out "Hendrix".

Buddy would then play a rif/song by some other artist.

"Hendrix!"

Buddy would play some other artist. Etc...

Finally Buddy played something in the Hendrix genre. Just a flash. Then stopped, walked up to the microphone, and said "See? I CAN play it, I just don't WANT to!"

And launched back into mimicing some other artist.

I've been a fan ever since.

That's a great story!
