Thanks for the list Mike.  lets face it, your kids, friends, or wife are not too impressed with sittin on the porch blues (even though i am very proud to be able to play it).  So, you want to be able to pay a riff that they all go " i know that song".  This is a good list, i would like to add another VERY easy riff that most everybody will know and be able to play in about 2 minutes.  "Jessie's Girl" by Rick Springfield.  Sounds good, easy to play.  Roger

ok, we have a list...now what happens???

Now, Sunny, you download the chords and lyrics and start to play the songs... If you listen to them it should be easy enough to put a simple rhthmic strum to them and then you have something to entertain the troops next time you have a campfire get-together...

When you get bored with the above list of easy songs, let me know and I'll find some more for you.

;)

Being even lazier than you  ;D are you going to find Rick Sprinfield's "Jessie's Girl"?

Thanks awfully, mate! (Actually, in England that would be "old son".)

Gotta love those easy songs, that's what keeps you coming back for more. Playing a good song that people recognize makes it fun for everyone. After learning them I try to add an embellishment or two and kind of add my own flavour to the mix.

Heck if it wasn't for easy songs I couldn't play any at all!!

Neil Young is also a good choice and has several great songs that could be on the list. "Helpless", "Heart of Gold" and "Rockin' in the Free World" are all pretty easy to get the hang of and are a lot of fun to play.

just checked in on this thread again & I noticed I had still not found any TAB for Janis Joplin's "Ball & Chain"...well I still have not found anything reliable but have come across this book 'The best of Janis Joplin' a Hal Leonard publication. It is available from Musician's Friend postage free but is almost $5 more thab what it sells for at Amazon - so don't believe the postage free stuff from MF !
And it contains "Ball & Chain"   [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

I cut my teeth on Neil Youngs music, first learning the basic usually simple chords and then all the hammer on's, pull offs and picking technique that made them sound complex. That and drop D and double drop D tuning! You can add "Cowgirl in the Sand" and "Down by the River", there's two you can jam out on.
