Procrastination, Distraction, No Action

My usual song writing scenario is, I get some inspiration for a story, chord progression or riff, then I just run with it.
Most of my song ideas are conceived written, recorded in a few hours, and quite often I'm writing the lyrics on the fly as I record....yea yea ,,,I know , sometimes it shows in the final product.:whistle:
Lately, I seem to be losing my focus.:unsure:
I'm spending too much time here, too much time with gear and recording tech.
I've got at least 5 songs in my head that I haven't taken anywhere and I've lost at least 10 fleeting ideas that where fantastic when they came to me ... ha ha.:(

Captain - I am no song writer, and likely no amount of effort would ever make me one, but I can empathize with what you are saying, as it applies to a variety of different things or situations.
I have had the rare, fleeting idea for a song now and then, either lyric or melody, but it seems to never be when I have an instrument or any means of memorializing it and further developing it available. By the time I do, it's long gone or I cannot reconstruct the quality of the original idea, so I know that can be frustrating.
All things ebb and flow, so have confidence that your mojo will be back soon!! :thumbup:

I still think you should take what you have, and turn it into an 8 song lp, and post online for sale, see what happens.

If the money means nothing, post it on social media and raise money for a charity you are passionate about, who knows, maybe an A&R will hear it

I've got more procrastination on that then anything:rolleyes:
I have started to organize some of my stuff for that purpose though.
It's a start:unsure:

Sounds like a plan Cap'n. Put me down for a download.:)

Get yourself one of these, and keep it hand. When I'm noodling on the guitar I'll set it on record, if something interesting comes out then I've captured it, if not, delete.

If I'm out and about and a lyric comes into my head, I write it on my phone.

Don't be giving up on us.
