Bring ready to take the stage is as much a matter of attitude as aptitude. The first Jan I did I had been playing 3 months and played from 4 notes and a bend from Griff's free Four Notes Solo video.
Some will say that 6 years later that's still about the extent of my skill, but u still go and stage and nobodu has booed me off if it yet.

Yep I've found that generally people are a lot nicer than we've been conditioned to expect by the media (both social and news/entertainment).
