Here's the 2nd recording of this lesson back in October, 2010. It's kinda painful to listen to.  ;D

My version of Deep Sea Blues is here and done. I know I sluffed a couple spots, but I've been working on it long enough. This one is close enough  :p .

Hey Russ,
Great idea on posting the previous one as well.  It really makes it easy to hear the improvements.  :) I'll def. try taht with FWB in a month or so.

I finally remembered that I am doing this for fun.  When I got frustrated with FWB.  I just went and did some other stuff.  Even noodling around with jam tracks.  Re-learned a simple version of Amazing Grace and House of the Rising Sun.  But I practiced FWB every time I played anything.  After only a couple of weeks it was stuck in my memory pretty good.   I  don't think it helps to obsess on one thing for too long.  There is soooo much to learn :)

Cheers,
Tim

Massive improvement Russ, well done  [smiley=beer.gif]

Isn't THAT an understatement?! HaHa  ;D

Thanks guys  :)

Technically, I didn't outright ignore this lesson. At first I worked on it for about 2-3 days straight and just couldn't get it, so I moved on to Fast Walking Blues. I practiced DSB only once a day while putting my heart into FWB. I really enjoy that one, so it made it easier to work on Deep Sea Blues. Every other day or so, there was an improvement by 1-2 bars until lately. The last 6 bars were just kicking my butt, so I really started hitting this lesson hard. The recording is as close as I've gotten to getting it to match the lesson so I'm pretty certain I can ACE this one in another month or so. I can't promise, but I'll try to remember to re-post it after that, since it'll be in my practice, now.

Thanks again, guys  ;)

I just listened to it again. I forgot that my fingers were sticking to the strings. I will have to post it again when I get it to sound cleaner.

Good effort Russ... move on to something else, by all means; but don't leave this one out of your practice sessions! It is a bit tricky, but its such a beaut little blues once you get it right; a little practice will soon smooth out the rough patches...

As it's been some time since I posted Muddy A, Deep Sea, and Hideaway Blues, perhaps people might be interested in seeing how I play them now...?

The slightest sign of interest on anyone's part will be enough to twist my arm and 'force' me to post new versions!

Nice one Russ. A bit too overdriven for my taste, but the lesson itself was well done. Time to move on.

I have to assume over driven means too loud? because I only play this USB thing clean.  :-? I'm not much of a fan of the pedal stuff just yet.

Yep. Just listened to it again and it about blew my headphones off. I'll try to remember to cut the volume down to 60 or 75% next recording.  :p
