Music Terms and Progressions From LLL

Here is a link to a very useful Music Dictionary and a link to Blues Progressions contained therein. Since it's from one of our illustrious centers of Higher Learning, I assume it will meet whatever "Education or Learning" parameters there are for inclusion in the "Important Topics" area under Music Education Links in the Music & Learning section of the Forum. Please add these links to that area of our forum. Thanks.

Does anybody have the tab for the Buddy Guy song Too Soon, or can Griff do a short lesson on it, I dont seem to be able to find it anywhere, (not good enough yet to work it out)

Blues - it's in me and it's got to come out.
The Buddy Guy song, "Too Soon" is a basic 12 bar blues.  Probably in Buddy's favorite key to sing in (I don't know what that is).  You can find the key by finding the bass notes in the I, IV, V chord progression.  Lessons 1, 2, 8 & 10 in BGU 2.0 ought to get you close enough.  There's nothing real technical in the solo.  It's all standard rock & roll licks played in triplets, the small chords or double stops strummed in 1/8 note time.  You can do it all with the pentatonic boxes (probably just one of them) and some help from old time rock & roll utubes, Chuck Berry style.

See you down the road [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

I'm just getting around here again and looking for some looping tools for vidoes, it appears that the video Surgeon is quite awesome; however it's over 100.00. The SloMo Director site is not operational ..

Any other suggestions available by anyone, I'm a Mac user...

Try Sending Griff a note. We have gotten discounts on VideoSurgeon in the past and I don't know if they expire or are permanent. Maybe do a search for Video Surgeon here on the Forum too.

I use Video Surgeon a lot. I procrastinated because of the price but eventually caved in.

Once I got into it, I was sorry I didn't make the jump much earlier.

For me, it's worth every penny.

I have 5G worth of mp3 guitar practice tracks on my hard drive, but I am very low on bass practice tracks. I'm looking for free tracks that have the bass removed, not necessarily blues, but in that case it would be nice to have a chart of some sort.

I have one set of tracks (purchased, so I can't share) that is a handful of common blues songs and it even has the bass part written out as played in the original, but I'm really after practicing "on the fly" so I feel more comfortable jamming.

I have an old version of band in a box so I may be able to generate some tracks on my own.

Thought I'd update this thread with some backing track sites that I use a lot and which are not all Blues related.

All of these sites have Blues tracks to varying degrees, but they offer much more than just Blues and are lots of fun to play to.
I like them because they take me out of my comfort zone and force me to think and play in different ways.
And since 90% of what they have to offer can be played with Pentatonic scales, you'd be surprised at how much of what you can learn to play on these sites can be easily incorporated into a 12-bar Blues.

Dopez Tracks.
Basically Rock, Hard Rock, Rock Ballads, Metal and some other stuff.

Y T Jam Tracks.
Lots of 80's Rock, Atmospheric tracks, Metal and Hard Rock.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdMqonsla0BK21Fnf9Qx5Wg
Sebastien Zunino.
Some Blues and other basic stuff, but mostly Jazz Fusion styles and lots of Modal grooves.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4wErHDpSOgoFGTWrWaDwEg
Bart Bijvank.
Almost exclusively Fusion Funk tracks. Tons of Modal stuff and even some polyrhythmic stuff.
As far from Blues as one can get, but it's a lot of fun and often quite challenging and a great way to expand your playing horizons.
