I tried some slide on this, but it didn't happen. I mean it was so bad, and I wouldn't put you through the pain of listening to it. (Griff's slide course is going to get some attention for a while):D

Here's 'You Can't Lose What You Ain't Never Had'. Now I've to find a BB King song to do and one from the Blues Brothers!!! You guys'll be the death of me!!!

Excellent work, everyone! It's interesting how many interpretations one can come up with for Muddy Waters' songs and a lot of fun listening. I wasn't going to post for this, but a few days ago, I heard something I thought I would like to try. I've been a few days putting this together, but this is essentially an "all pink" production. No backing tracks were harmed in making this tune. I even unwrapped the whammy bar in the unopened pack of case candy that came with my American Strat when I bought it new back in 2011... just for one guitar solo. To steal a line from Steve Vai's song "The Audience Is Listening,"
It's gonna be loud!

Edited because I originally had the Steve Vai quote wrong.

Great job on a classic Muddy song. I especially liked the transition into the solo, very effective.

Thanks for these comments, appreciate it! My cover is based on this recording: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrKHz94rGpk

I tried hard not to channel Steve Marriott (Humble Pie's Rockin' the Fillmore album - "Even you people, behind the glass plate, at the back of the hall - are you ready?").;)

The rhythm is my stratocaster on the neck pickup, with a Tube Screamer into a Blues Driver, and came from the piano and harmonica in the recording. I recorded the rhythm for the whole song twice and panned one take left and the other one right. The solo guitar (only one, right in the center) is the same setup except using the middle pickup.

These challenges are great! I have loved watching this one unfold, though I guess I didn't say much at the time (my bad). So here are some thoughts - hope I didn't miss anybody:

@PapaRaptor - "I Just Want To Make Love to You" - Great production, and awesome vocals. Very Raven-esque!
@Many Moons - "You Can't Lose What You Never Had" - Rock on, bluesman! Loved it.
@Annie - "Catfish Blues" - I love the simple guitar backing and superbly expressive singing, it fits so well together and perfect for this song!
@Elwood - "Caldonia" - Great cover of the jump blues! Works well with the Taylor, too - nice groove.
@blackcoffeeblues - "Got My Mojo Working" - Awesome take on the classic Muddy Waters standard!
@sloslunas - "Hoochie Coochie Man" - Thanks for bringing this one! (You're playing with the pros, of course you're out of my league!)
@BraylonJennings - "Champagne and Reefer" - Nice sounds in this full-on studio version, and great bluesy vocals!
@glynnd - "Hoochie Coochie Man" - Mighty fine work on this classic song!
@CaptainMoto - "Baby Please Don't Go" - Very cool, hard-driving cover of great tune!
