05-06-09 JohnC's Another Brick In the Wall
For anyone interested I started this BGU course because I have attempted songs and things in the past and I couldn't cut it.
Like 5 or so months ago I didn't have a hope of tackling this song.
I used my Bits and Pieces Strat, Fender Reverb amp again just miked up through the usb interface to cubase AI4 recorder.
I used the Music Man guitar for the heavy background distorted guitar part.
Pedals are:  The Boss OD - 3 and DD - 3 plus the Diamond j Drive MK 3.
I used a backing track I found on the net that just had the Drums, Bass and backing Vocals which I modified slightly.
I played all the guitar parts plus had a bash at the lead vocal. (Lucky the backing is good)

BOB's WELL I'M ASKING
This looked like it was going to grow, so I broke it out by itself.

10-01-09 Bob's Song "Well I'm Asking" With John's Drums and lead
John: OK we have been playing around with this for a couple of weeks now.  I have recorded my backing track for  Bob and he sent me his vocal to add to it. So this is what we have so far:   Backing with Bobs vocal: http://www.4shared.com/file/136463846/abb9af5b/Well_Im_Asking_by_Bob_Coult_with_ voc.html
Bob will probably chime in on this but I believe that he is happy for anyone else to have a go and put a vocal and or any guitar parts to it.  It would be great to hear some of you singers out there to put your interpretation to it.
Backing track alone as follows:

Chord/Lyrics:  scaned chordpro sheet as Word .doc

10-02-09 Chuck Adds some vocals and Lead to Bob's "Well I'm Asking"
Well, here is my supplement to Bob and John's work of art!
I tried a bit of background vocals and I threw in a little lead that starts at about 2:15 and ends at about 3:00.
Here she is! Good Job Bob and John!

MIKE'S SOLO 4 CHALLENGE
I was writing some lyrics the other day and I realized that they fit pretty well with Solo4.  I thought that maybe some of you would take a listen and figure out something to do with it.  The backing track isn't long enough to leave an intro up front, a solo in the middle and an outtro. Any of you folks know what to do about that?  I didn't play anything, I just added the vocals to Griff's backing tracks.
MIX:      http://www.4shared.com/file/140403824/f5b8a072/Solo_4_-_4_Oclock-Mike.html
VOCAL:  http://www.4shared.com/file/140403878/8179181c/Solo_4_-_4_Oclock-Vocal-Mike.html
I loaded the Lesson 4 Play Along track into Audacity and plugged my MIC into my UX1. POD Farm is set to "American Classic Preamp and Medium Hall.

10-15-09 Dave's Drum Tracks
As a start for a full song backing track here is a Drum only track that can be used as a great click track (or drum track) for Mike's 4 O'clock blues, it is 61 BPM. Almost exactly the tempo from Solo 4.
http://bluesguitarunleashed.com/12bar/index.php?path=&download=WrongAgainBlu es.mp3
Or start with a little heavier drum track with Bass in the Key of G!
http://www.4shared.com/file/141017050/3c635451/SemanticBlues-pitch_G.html
Mike or someone can work out the song chord pattern.
It might use both the 12 bar format in G and it might use the Cm7 Dm7 that Bob shared.
There can be more than one! The drum track without the bass line gives more flexibility in the chord pattern. - Dave

Using my American standard strat, neck pickup, and recorded direct out of my BOSS GT-8, using only the BD-2 effect and some reverb, into Audacity on my laptop. I'm actually getting better at using this thing...Alot of negative comments about the unit (GT-8 that is), and there are alot of negative things, but for certain things, I find it quite nice..but you have to take the time to really learn how to use it.

This was recorded with a camcorder at a talent show held in Ogunquit, ME in spring of 2001.
The band is a backing track, I'm playing a '90 Fender American Standard Strat through a little 10w solid state Charvel Amp and I'm just singing through the house PA.

Just did a recording of my version of BB King's I'll survive...just a simple track of rythm guitar, with another track of improvised solo . This is the first time I record both tracks using my fender Blues Jr amp, and a SM58 mic, thru  a small BOSS BX-800 mixer to Audacity on my laptop.

Wayne with an original song 02-23-10
This is from around 2007.  Original song I wrote.  Recorded with first cassette tape based rig (can't remember what it was - it was the drummers gear), then bounced to protools.  Bounced tracks were guitar, bass & drums.  Added vocals & guitar solo with protools (Mbox).  Used '62 Reissue SG through POD set on Marshall model throughout.  Solo, gain was increased to get a more biting tone.

Steve (Sgrams) With some banjo help on Wagon Wheel) 02-25-10
I promised Spencer I would post another version of Wagon Wheel with my nephew Devin adding his banjo to the mix.  We decided to start from scratch as the original recording had some distortion from the guitar track.  I think the levels on this one are a bit better.  The recording has 4 tracks.  Track 1 is the acoustic guitar & banjo.  Track 2 is 2 banjo solos(Old Crow uses a fiddle in their recording).  Tracks 3 & 4 are me singing the melody & harmony.  All recorded into UX2 using MXL 990 & 991 condenser mikes.  The acoustic is an Epi Hummingbird.  Not sure about the banjo. Kudos to my nephew Devin.  He's a real good guitar player who started teaching himself banjo last year.  This was a fun project & I hope you all enjoy it.

Steve (SGrams) With "Blues that Emi Taught Me" 02-28-10
A little over a month ago Emi posted 4 acoustic blues ditties that knocked my socks off.  He was kind enough to provide a link to this British guy Justin's web site where the tabs are available for one of the songs Emi did.  Justin calls it Solo Blues 1 on his website.  I call it Blues That Emi Taught Me.  I finally got around to downloading it & learning it so here are 2 recordings: one with a bit of muting on the double stops & one where I let them ring out.  I love acoustic blues.  Thanks for the inspiration Emi.  Played on my Epi Hummingbird into UX2 using an MXL 990 condenser mic.

Wayne with a recording with and of his daughter's original song Me Without You!  Posted: 03-09-10
This a recording of a song my daughter wrote and sang with her friend (fall of '05).  They basically hummed what they wanted and said it should be chick punk - and viola!  I sooo loved being able to do this with her!
Got my bass player and drummer at the time to record on it as well as my guitar playing.
This was done with Mbox/ProTools and Flextone II (speaker simulation output, just like POD) - some marshall modal with high gain, on the '62 SG reissue.  Drums were electronic and added after the guitar track and bass were done.  Bass was miked with SM58 playing through a Fender Frontman 80watt Bass amp.  Then the vocals and lead guitar.

Another live performance from '03.
Just the '91 strat with clean solid state amp, singing through house PA.
Audio recorded through camcorder (was going to post it, but you really can't see me - not zoomed in).
This is based on a version done by just George Harrison (sounded like clean electric to me) - learned it off the track by ear (educated by knowledge of music and guitar mangling!).

Bruce with another outstanding recording  04-01-10
On this effort, The drum is my keyboard  setup with an easy but boaring run.
I played bass track, then rythm guitar  then solo on another track.
There  alot of blank tracks further on after the 16 bar solo part so you don't have to listen to te whole thing.
It's a work in progress.

All using fender USA strat, GT-8 direct to mixer to laptop using Audacity
Hope it give you some ideas..
The solo guitar track is very basic,,,I was imrovising  BB King style (trying to at least) with that little run up to high Bb on first string, some Griff points out he does alot...I think it sounds neat too.

Wally (SeattleSlim) With a "One Man Band" original song 04-04-10
I'm doing my one man band thing again. Writing song and arranging using recording software produced by Propellerhead -- RECORD/REASON. I went back to a song I started a long time ago, but never did much with it. I made the drum track with a sequencer (I wish I had a session drummer to sit in whenever I need one), bass played on keyboard, piano and other instrument sounds with midi keyboard thru RECORD. The guitar is my Telecaster played thru M-Audio ProFire 610 firewire interface, and used Line-6 Amp simulations.

The rythm guitar is with my Takamine electro/acoustic, and the solo track is with my Fender Squier Fat Strat, using the bridge pick up, and run throough my BOSS GT-8 with a custom patch, right into Audacity.
Got a nice little groove going while jamming on the guitar track...easy D, C, G ...oh yea, the acoustic is also going through the GT-8 using 2X2 chorus and acoustic processor.
