Dang, that was really good! I'm really looking forward to the next iteration. I love that song, I coincidentally posted Stu Hamm's version in another thread last week. This needs a lot more work - I haven't done any fingerpicking in ages and I've never used a thumbpick before. By next month I'm hoping to be able to play it well enough to double-track the guitars and, oh yeah, I guess there's a mandolin part as well.
Mandolin was my first string instrument that my grandfather taught me to play growing up. After not having touched one in quite a few decades, every once in a while I think about picking it up again -- as though I really need another musical distraction in my life!Thank you so much Elio! It's quite the huge transition to go from my usual hair metal stuff to a nice folksy Zeppelin song - and it's taking me forever lol. I'm hoping that with two guitars and of course the mandolin, it might end up sounding like something nice. Time will tell
It's really a beautiful sounding instrument! I need to find more time for it.Mandolin was my first string instrument that my grandfather taught me to play growing up. Outstanding! But that's par for the course for you. This needs a lot more work - I haven't done any fingerpicking in ages and I've never used a thumbpick before. Thank you so much Lloyd! Appreciate itOutstanding! But that's par for the course for you.
I'm listening hard, and just not hearing them!Thank you so much Lloyd! Appreciate it
I'm afraid all I hear is the mistakes lol
Some of us think that everything we play is beautiful, but for most, all we hear our the imperfections in our own playing. It's odd. Playing in public you can gage by audience reaction if you go over well, but all I remember is misspoke lyrics and sloppy chord changes.Thank you so much Lloyd! Appreciate it

Well if we weren't so bothered by our mistakes, we wouldn't be trying so hard to get better. Some of us think that everything we play is beautiful, but for most, all we hear our the imperfections in our own playing. I'm sure Griff will point them outI'm listening hard, and just not hearing them!
Funny how he can do thatI'm sure Griff will point them out
Really?This needs a lot more work -
Jack -- as always, musically & technically excellent - are you using an opening tuning for the fingerpicked track? This needs a lot more work - I haven't done any fingerpicking in ages and I've never used a thumbpick before. Thank you! I guess they call it "double drop D" tuning, with both high and low E strings tuned to D.Jack -- as always, musically & technically excellent - are you using an opening tuning for the fingerpicked track?
