Having lived in the Woodstock area for the past 2 years I finally decided to go find Big Pink.
So I rode my bicycle on over in that direction and I found it.
Unfortunately, I didn't hear any music coming from the basement.
Then I rode on over to Bearsville, which is just west of Woodstock, to Todd Rundgren's Utopia studios complex.
And rode back through Woodstock to the east side of town:
Normally I would ride over there during the week to avoid the traffic.
You don't want to visit on the weekend and definitely not during the fall when the leaves are turning.
There's a lot of trees in the Catskills.
But I forgot that today is the first day of celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the festival and the place was packed with tourists and automobiles.
Even though the festival was actually held about 70 miles south of here.
BTW: Anyone driving up or down the Hudson Valley before or after BGU Northeast will be passing close by Woodstock.
It's only about 10 miles to the west of the New York State Thruway Saugerties and Kingston exits.
These exits are approximately 45 and 55 miles south of Albany, respectively.
