Hows about a Challenge

We haven't done this since "Send Me To The Electric Chair", but after talking to @blackcoffeeblues , I got an idea. If you feel up to it, how's about everyone do their own take on this song. Why this one ?

Well, the original chord progression is pretty simple G-C-D then D-C-G then C-D-G but open for your own choice. Here are some starter lyrics to change as you please, might even be more fun NOT to listen to our two versions of it before doing your own. Should be easy enough the virtuosos can jazz it up, and beginners with Cowboy Chords can also.....................so, anyone up for some fun ?

Original Lyrics

When my daddy was a young man
he worked hard for what he owned
Tough on the kids till the day we're grown

Sent him off to fight in a foreign land
Did what he had to do in Vietnam

Momma would cook and clean almost every day
still had a 9 to 5, there were bills to pay
momma would do her best not to be unkind
every now and then we would cross that line

CHORUS
sometimes you gotta stand and take the fight
do what you have to do to do whats right
looking in the mirror see where you stand
in the end you answer to one man

Now I'm all grown I got kids of my own
blink of an eye I looked and they were grown
thinking about all the things I've seen
I never really care what could have been

CHORUS

Gonna live forever thats the biggest lie
you cant outrun a man called father time
I wouldnt change a thing baby if I could
theres a few things I probably should

OK Capn; you winning:) I actually did do something real close to #2. A 12 bar blues thing, but could not get my emotions into like you did.:thumbup::thumbup: good job.
its fun hearing how we all have a different playing style.............I am for sure influenced by 80's hair ballad stuff, others running bass line and chords, style of strum.

Like when we did Send me to the Electric Chair, taking something similar and making it our own....................reminds me of why I enjoy playing

Hmmm well is it legit to try to get a guitar part first then sing over it second?

I cant really ( attempt to sing ) and play at the same time ...

That's retro baby!

Well done!
Nice interpretation of the original.

Correct me if I'm wrong.....is this the first time we've heard Paleo sing?

How soon they forget.

Those where 2 years ago
They fell off the top 40 chart long ago,
You need to feed your fan base on a regular basis.
It's hard to remember your last meal when you're starving
